Is This Game Still Fun for New Players?
I recommended this game to my friend. He said he started playing it but lost every game and felt like it was impossible to win. I have been playing a long time, so I'm not really sure what it's like to start this game from scratch. Is the learning curve really that steep? Or have the devs made it nearly impossible for new players, with mechanics like Hunt and Devour?

The learning curve was steep to begin with (back when this game was worth playing online; when it had a decent, larger, more varied and creative fanbase). So the Devs encouraged the Lazy and the Impatient and the Braindead and the Immature to download a Metadeck from EW. Most of the Deck-builders stopped playing online because all the copy-and-paste players turned it into such a chore. Now (unless you use a netdeck like most of the current 'players') the game is even more inaccessible to new players...

It looks like the answer is "no," as there aren't any new players speaking up saying, "Oh yeah, it's so much fun!" Sad.

You can build a deck for cheep and play for free and have lots of fun. No a new player is not going to have a killer deck but its still fun for new players.

That's the theory, but I still have yet to hear from an actual new player that they are new to the game and having a good time.

4000 hours played is new? You've only played 1300, and I still wouldn't consider you to be new. Maybe someone with 50 hours or less would be considered to be new IMO.

I started last month, and I enjoyed mucking around with Gauntlet/Forge. I also threw together something random, and while I don't have any expectations of an incredibly high rank game, I can still play Ranked for the victory quests and succeed at them.

So, I think the game's fine for new players as long as expectations are tempered accordingly. (Though I wish the Skip Tutorial button came earlier for people who are used to games like this.)

That's great! Welcome! I am glad to hear that you are having fun.
Yes, I'd play it more if not for Marvel Snap.

It is very fun if you enjoy playing against decks with legendaries even in bronze ranked. I love the game mechanics but man... I really am struggling to stay interested.

I was wondering because I have played this game for years and I have lots of different cards and decks, yet winning 7 games in a row on gauntlet is a real ordeal. They have ramped up the difficulty so much that the game really isn't that much fun anymore.

Just tried out Draft to complete that beginner diamond quest. Got matched with the #26 overall masters ranked player in my first game... Jesus Christ.

That sounds messed up.

There are not many players left in the game that don't have killer decks or been playing a long time. I get matched with a squishy player and slam next.
