PSA: Twitch Drops are giving a lot of rewards
So I "watched" an Eternal Twitch Steam for 14 hours today. And by "watched" I mean logged into Twitch and clicked on the top Eternal Steam then went to work, dinner, played with the kids etc.

I got 11 passive drops in that time, two or three of which were packs, one was a draft ticket and the rest were rares. (1 premium Valk Enforcer woot)

Just a heads up in case anybody hasn't been doing the passive drops ( I wasn't until today since I almost never watch game streamers). If there is going to be a whole month of rewards like today it will be by far my largest source of Shiftstone this month.

must be great being a streamer
when you know noone is actually watching you and everyone is an afkbot

Yeah, great for the community. Loads of people finding excellent streamers from this.

I'm trying this now. Just linked my account. Do these drops show up in game, or am I notified on the Twitch channel, or...?

They will show up in-game almost immediately. As long as you're not in a match. Also get notified with the Twitch notification system.

I think it's not that bad, they (DWD as well as the streamers) know that there are a lot of ppl being afk and just interested in the drops.
But everyone who watches streams now and then you can see that there are also more active ppl in the chat.

So, I think even with the AFK "abuse" it's promoting the game and it helps the streamers.
Also the "always just afk watchers" are drawn more into the game due to the rewards they get.
I would say the system isn't flawless but helping all sides, that's fine by me :)

It also helps out smaller channels like me. I just linked my twitch to the game so hopefully my channel will start dropping loot. Even if people are AFK for the drops, it still brings my viewercount up to get myself noticed easier
I did this yesterday and it defintely works. Got 4 great cards and a pack. Now, I am wondering if it's considered cheating to watch multiple Twitch channels at the same time? (Maybe it will increase my odds?)

You are not doing anything wrong but I doubt that watching multiple streams will increase the number of drops ;)

You can get draft tickets? Ok I will give this a go, love draft but never enough gold to play...

This twitch marketing is completely broken, you can get stuff dropped without watching a single stream and just letting it run in the backgroun while doing other stuffs.

That's typically a false good idea that brings nothing commercially to the game.

Yeah but its only for October...probably to coincide with the new campaign coming out and because MtG Arena is now in open beta...gotta fight the competition somehow...

Did anything change? All I get is wood chests which give blue stuff and I have to click on them. Also not sure if watching multiple streams stacks, the chests appear on all streams at the same time but maybe only one counts?

Can confirm that watching multiple streams does not matter.
The chests that pop up are something that isn't fully implemented yet (from what I understand). The actual drops will pop up in game and you'll get a twitch notification when you get one, they take a little while and I think there's a limit to how many you can get a day although I can't confirm that.

Side note, I got a free draft ticket, used it and ended up getting matched against the streamer I happen to be watching. Didn't realize it until I pretty much won but still. Thought it was funny, lol. Felt bad though.

DWD seem like sharp folks. They most likely learned from the debacle that Bethesda created for them in how Drops were implemented in Elder Scrolls Legends, and have accounted for some of the things that led it to be a dumpster fire (namely, the way it tanked the economy and created unrealistic expectations).
