What are the pliers for?

Not really sure what to use them for. And I haven't made progess in a while, if I know what they are used for it might help me remember something I might have missed.

That sounds right but atleast on keyboard I can't move real slow, I tried crouching to one and it just sent me flying...

Well when I place my own mines they blow up in a few seconds. The pliers can disarm them and I can pick those back up.

Well when I place my own mines they blow up in a few seconds. The pliers can disarm them and I can pick those back up.

You can do that without the pliers. Trust me. I do not know what they do, but the mines have a small grace period where it is yellow before it is armed, allowing you to pick it up.

The pliers are in fact for disarming mines such as the mines that are right next to where you -get- said pliers. You just have to tap forward and slowly nudge yourself forward while looking at the mine (ensure your cursor is white) and it will bring up an item interface panel, (you know how the vents have the locked symbol? Like that) and while this is visible, use the pliers. The mine will go from armed to disarmed and you can pick it up.

Sounds like a huge risk since the mines just explode with no warning beeps. Thanks for the verification.

Try crouching down and inching towards the mine until you see it pop up above your quick-slot bar, then use the Pliers. Don't hold down the move button, just tap it and inch closer until you can use them.

Without giving too much away, they're in the red zone and do not require any other tools to access them. You will have to make a jump that visually looks like it might be too far, but isn't.

Ah cool, thanks. Without giving too much away - I made such a jump which leads to a cyborg corpse in a pit (after jump - tunnel - then climb down - 2 routes of access) which had a mine in it's inventory - is this the place? As I could not find any other item nearby.

No, that's not it. There are active mines on the floor right next to the spot where you get the pliers.

I have not got to that part it seems. I have the crowbar, infrared vision, screwdriver, remote + wireless device (for triggering buttons) gas mask and a power outlet (or battery?) - haven't found an use for it yet. Got 1 red key kard (seems I need like 6 by the looks of that room). Only 1 green key (used it already, but there seems to be a 2nd one to be found and used).

I haven't figured yet with the elevator in red level (there are several levels that are completely dark and no switches work) but in rest I did explore the red section quite a bit (even found the connections to the tutorial level both via elevator and the tunnel which had double barred doors).

I did found couple mines in a tunnel section but was in the green area, so I guess that's not it either (2 dead cyborg bodies and on next corner mine for each).

Gas room it's a complete mystery for me I couldn't figure out anything to do there and the no firearms sign also looks intriguing.
