Is there actually anything special about this game?
Is there actually anything exceptional about this game, that makes it worth buying?

I've watched a bit of gameplay videos of it so far, and it looks... bleh. Narrow field of view, boring room layouts. Puzzles that involve more trial and error rather than actual clever thinking. Camera that's zoomed in so close to the character that she actually blocks your field of view a bit (why not just make it first person?)

Your politics or desire to spite certain people aside (yes, I'm asking you to be rational and objective), why shouldn't I just pass this by and get something I know is exceptional like The Turing Test, Solus Project, Talos Principle, Soma, or Penumbra?

This game just looks like the developers knew they had something mediocre on their hands, and were out of money or manpower to really change it late in development, so they added giant cans because they knew they'd get a bunch of sales from stirring controversy.

So, why should I spend my money on this instead of one of the other aforementioned games?

From what i've seen the field of view works just fine based on what the simple room layout gave you, the puzzles does needs you to actually think and the trial and error thing is not really that bad as the negative reviews says it is. The ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ambush and traps are not that far from a save point most of the time, and the only real BS i've seen were the first time i saw a mine, which kinda looks like a button and apparently blows up in close proximity.

To sum it up: The game is built pretty solid. It does what it needs to do, and the price is also quite reasonable for what the dev is offering you. If you're still not sure, just either try the greenlight demo or play the game for an hour or so, then just refund if you think the game is ♥♥♥♥.

Since when is it a crime to ask others if something is good or bad?

It should be a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ crime to necro a thread that are more than 6 months old though.

gonna unsub now so bye, read the date and time next time.
Well, I personally think the game is quite good, The game self identifies as metrioidvania. But to me what draws me in is that it's more like tomb raider meet RE4, and I mean PS1 Tomb Raider.

It has tense moments, it has platforming galore, and truth be told that's a taste that not everyone shares, I'd say try it out you might like it.

What upsets me more than anything is that there is

1) No map
2) Everything looks the same minus pipe colors

I've gotten lost who knows how many times because the game is nothing but tight corridors and luck on whether or not you took the correct path the first time.

This game is pretty challenging to the point of carefully managing your "ink ribbons" as saving is finite, while frustrating it's also easy to get lost as there is no map and mapping the place is also a headache. Personally the game reminds me of the original Tomb Raider trilogy with its puzzle solving and platforming.

Reminds me of games of old with zero handholding. game desperately needs a map and some indication as to what item you need to progress through some areas. Otherwise I've found it to be a great action/puzzler.

Also the entrance to the red area is way too hidden...

I feel like a dinosaur, but back in the day (we're talking 1980's and early 90's here) We would simply take a big sheet of paper and draw out a map while playing, taking notes where special stuff was. Worked a treat back then. I hear paper en pencils are still for sale these days. Heck, why not throw in an eraser.

A pretty apt statement right there.

Well I wrote a review on this on why precisely the sexy femdroid is NOT the only selling point of this game.

You'll be pleasantly surprised that the puzzles are indeed challenging and the feeling of entrapment and isolation is high on this one, very reminiscent of old school games like Metroid 2 and the Tomb Raider series (orignal trilogy).

I'd highly recommend you DO NOT WATCH walkthroughs and speedruns, because aside from the cheating factor you'll completely miss out on the intention of making you feel lost in a maze (which you are). Many gamers today enjoy being handheld through games, having maps or ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ♥♥♥♥ ass stupid sparkling twinkle pathways that tell you where to go and what to do. Not in this game, this one goes balls deep into what old school gaming used to be and feel like.

Though admitiedly some of the trial and errors revolve mainly around timing your jumps correctly, which can feel a bit frustrating in some parts.

ALSO! The camera zoom can be changed to your liking by editing the system configuration file so you can have a 3rd person Metal Gear Solid type of game, or even all the way up front to first person, it's quite neat! :D

This game is quite misjudged and underappreciated because of the same stuff you say, but if you play this game as it is meant to you will find to be a hidden gem among much crap and you will also discover that sometimes less is more.

And do keep in mind that the entire game was made by only 4 people, so it's quite an accomplishment for such a small team.

I recommend you check it out and don't use walktroughs. If you are still not satisfied then get your refund ;)
