its supposed to be dark

Try brightness settings. Though it is meant to be dark, I guess it's not meant to be that dark to the point where you start missing item pick-ups.

its only massively dark i.e u cant see anything at all in the area leading towards the kitchen and where u pick up the padlock cutters. Its basically like u got a torch and suddenly the torch batterys run out and u cant see anything.Brightness settings work though but after viewing the video tape everything is normal and the brightness settings can go back how they were before.Thats my best way of explaining it anyway

I see what you're saying and you can have the brigness settings where they suggest and it can become way too dark. Especially when you open the basement door when you look down into it, it goes pitch black. I don't know what the effect is called but its like when your eyes are adjusting to light/dark in real life. There using that type of affect which i can see how places become too dark. but yes. It can get too dark in some places. Intentional? Probably.

It's a serious problem, not a question of taste, I think it's a technical issue, youtube videos showing Ps4 footage and even some screenshots on steam look completely fine, when I play, it doesn't look like them at all.

Increasing the brightness doesn't work at all, it doesn't make things more visible it just over saturates the colors

look at these screenshots from other people:

Seems volumetric lighting and flashlight are not working with your setup try downloading updated drivers for your graphics card from the manufacturers website.

Ah, if the graphics card is the problem then I won't bother trying to fix it since I'll be getting a new one soon

I'm currently using a AMD radeon HD 6900 series, Radeon Setting has been bothering me for a long time telling me to update the card's software but it never actually updated when I did, so it's asking me again always, If I remember correctly, the problem was that the card can't be updated anymore but Radeon Settings doesn't take that into account.

thanks

Before installing your new GPU, go ahead and run DDU to ensure you have a clean driver install.

Same issue. So dark I can hardly see anything. Cranking the brightness ♥♥♥♥♥ with the colors.

"Hurr it's supposed to be that dark!"
Mat36 Dec 28, 2016 @ 10:17am
Im also AMD radeon HD 6900 series graphics card.I presume its below minimum system requirements and that why were getting the trouble.Despite this though the demo does run at 60fps...GPU upgrade time me thinks specially now amd dont release new drivers for this gpu

That doesn't look right, at all, on those screens. I had no problems and don't know a fix but hope you find a solution.

This is what mine looks like: http://i.imgur.com/Hwxcmmn.jpg

That's with the default brightness setting. Any higher and the really dark rooms, like the hallways, have some kind of red tint.
