How to Activate the R18 Version

I've gone through the PG13 version for all routes and only recently learned of the R18 version of this visual novel.
I followed the instructions from another thread on how to download the R18 version, so in all sense of the word I have the R18 version, but it won't activate for me, I've done another walkthrough to test this theory and nothing has come of it, it's still set to PG13.
Can someone please help guide me as to how I can properly activate it?

Are you trying to access the R18 version through Steam? You have to download it from itch.io, but you could play it on Steam if you manually replace the existing files with the itch.io version.

So the best thing to do is to buy and download the game from itch.io and play it separately to the game I've downloaded on Steam?
I've downloaded the R18 version itch.io but can't gain access to it, suppose I'll have to purchase it then?

No, you don't have to purchase it separately. You said you download it successfully, so I assume you were able to use the key available under CD Key in the Steam client? But in that case I don't understand what you mean by "can't gain access to it". Do you just need help opening the ZIP file?

That's probably the case, I can't open the ZIP file xD
I feel silly, but I'm on a new computer and still learning how everything works here
I'd be very grateful if you could instruct me how to open it, many thanks in advance!

No problem! Could you let me know the file name, to make sure you have the right one? (I was trying to check myself, but I'm having trouble downloading from itch.io at the moment.) Also, what operating system do you have?

I've literally just discovered how to sort it out, I googled it and found the answers I was looking for in regards to the zip file and how to unzip it (really can't think of why I didn't do this sooner *smashes head into wall*) xD
