Act 4 Softlock?

I managed to get myself stuck partway in Act 4. It's after you recruit everyone but Miriam into your factory-revolution-squad and go to Mom's house to ask her to join you. Upon loading the game up, I tried to talk to Miriam to advance the story, but no dialog started. The icon to talk to her disappeared, the black bars indicating the start of a cutscene appeared, and the bard walked into the place he stands in during the cutscene like normal... but then I regained control exactly like a cutscene finished. I think the game's trying to load the cutscene but can't.
For further context, the time before this, the game gave me a fatal error message in this cutscene after I closed something out of the game window. I went to re-open the game and ended up stuck, unable to re-initiate the cutscene.
I can still talk to Mom and the Happy Kid mascot outside perfectly fine for some reason. Only talking to Miriam of all NPCs I tried seems to not work. I should also specify that I tried quitting and restarting the game several times, which didn't change anything.

EDIT: I used the scene select code to re-start the current scene and everything progressed as it should.
