TSW not starting
I have been doing TSW and the addons for a while. Last week Windows 10 did a small update and now it doesn't even start. I get a screen saying that it is starting it and that disappears. In the Steam window it shows that it is running, but it is not anywhere running on the computer at all. Even in task manager it does not show up. Then after about 5 minutes, it returns and does not say running any more in the steam library window.
I have updated my drivers for the video card and it still does it.
All other games on Steam are OK to play.
Windows 10 latest update, 1050 NVidia card, 8GB ram, Intel I3 7250 chip, MSI Mortar Artic H270 M/B

Very annoying to continue to troubleshoot and not getting anywhere.:steamsad:

Hello, I had this same issue. I finally got the game working by uninstalling the KB4338819 update that was installed on my computer on 7/10/18. I uinstalled that security update and it allowed the game to work again.

Please try uninstalling that update and post if it helps. Maybe TSW can address what is causing this with Microsoft.

100% to you. This morning before I saw the post here, I re-installed it just to be on the safe side. Still didn't work. Then I removed the update and restarted the computer and works fine.
So there is something in KB4338819 that is causing this.
Thanks!!!!!!!

Ugh, Windows installed this update again. Now I have to uninstall it yet again to get the game working. DTG needs to address this.

Windows Update KB4338819 causes TSW to not load
Hello,

Twice now I have had where TSW will just not load. When launched the TrainSimWord and the protype executable just run in the background for a few minutes but the TSW small load launch window never appears and the game never starts. The executables just eventually stop. The only fix is to uninstall a recent MS Update (KB4338819).

In another post I have verified at least one other person impacted by this. I am not sure what in this patch is affecting TSW, but it is.

If others are affected, please post. Hopefully DTG can address this with Microsoft.

Hi.
We are aware of the problem caused by windows update KB4338819. Issues relating to this update were widely reported to Microsoft who issued update KB4345421 on Tuesday.

At this time we request that you try installing update KB4345421 and let us know if this fixes the problem. If it does not, we shall raise our concerns with Microsoft.
Thankyou.

EDIT= also merged topics as I believe they are directly related.

Hi, sorry for creating a second thread but I thought one with the KB in the subject might call more attention to the issue.

I did just install KB4345421, but it did not resolve the problem. I am now back to not being able to launch TSW.

I uninstalled KB4345421 and the game works again. I am not sure if it is the issu, but it seems that both updates affect the Visual C++ 2015 redistributable. I have observed that with each time that I install or remove either of these patches that the install date for Visual C++ 2015 changes to the current date. I tried doing a repair on both the x86 and x64 redists but that did not help.

I noticed in the KB4345421 update that there is a known issue listed as: ""Access Denied" errors and applications with COM activation fail after installing July 2018 Security and Quality Rollup updates for .NET Framework". Here is the link to that notice:

https://support.microsoft.com/en-gb/help/4345913/access-denied-errors-after-installing-july-2018-security-rollup-update

Is that what is impacting TSW? I do see a ton of COM activiation errors in the Event Viewer. Hopefully Microsoft can resovle this soon. I keep having to uninstall these updates.

Well, it sure took Microsoft a while, but their update released this month has finally worked with TSW. I am now fully updated and TSW will play.

This is the update that fixed the problems caused with the July update:

After the running the updates for windows10 64 bit

with these updates

my unreal engine crasches during the first loadingscreen i fixed it by uninstalling the updates is there anyone else with this problem?

After the july update I didn't had any issues but after the "fix" is crashes.
