SPAD - signal passed at danger
Does anyone else find this? You are on a route, there is no traffic but you are stuck at a red. You tab to request permission, and are told to pass at restricted speed. As soon as you pass it, you are declared to have failed.

WHY???

Is this a bug, or a 'feature' designed to allow more time sitting looking at the scenery and less actually driving? It is also frustrating that if you are running services, you have to go right back to the beginning.

Can someone tell me if I am being too impatient, or is it a bug that fails you whenever you pass red, either with permission or without it?

Should fail if you pass a signal without permission, but should work fine when you have permission to pass a signal. Are you sure the signal isn't directly followed by another red signal?

I didn't see any other signal. I was restarting from rest, and my speed was less that 2mph. The signal distance counted down and it failed me when it reached zero, so I don't think there could have been another signal immediately after it.
It was on CSX on one of the services, but I can't remember which one. However, It also happened to me on the North Trans-Pennine, with similar result (so it seems consistent)

I've done all the CSX:HH services since it was recently updated and never had to request to pass a signal at danger. In fact, it's hard to come up against a red signal if driving within the speed limits.

You do seem to be creating a situation which should be considered a bug though. Perhaps the dispatcher is letting you pass the signal when the front of the train in front has passed through the next signal, yet the end of the train is still in the block? Maybe their is a time limit in which you have to pass the signal after receiving permission and you have not passed the signal in that time limit? Maybe it is the latter, in which case it is probably not a bug.

Only time I've had this happen is on CSX:HH, but it's been because I didn't check the points were correct and I ended up on the wrong track.

I don't think it can be a problem with the tail of the train, as I have been running under green signals up until this point. I am interested that it happens on other environments. If it is a bug, how do I report it?

Has anyone any suggestions how long you need to wait for a signal to clear? I have been waiting for minutes - and it doesn't help that I have no timetable to determine if I am on schedule or not (on CSX-HH)

Are the switches set correctly?
