Please put some more traffic in the game
Hi guys,

Maybe I'm the only one complaining about this but I woudn't mind some diversity in the scenarios or at least in the timetable mode. The lines are almost completely empty even at rush hours...
That would be great to have another train in front of us sometimes or one crossing our path (and thus encounter some yellow signals on the way instead of green ones all the time).

Just adding an option where we can select a heavy or a light traffic on the line would be awesome. The main problem with the game is that, for me, it's getting really repetitive after a while. Adding some more trains and thus more irregularities would be great.

(Please don't tell me that I need to play another game if I don't want it to be repetitive. I'm a train driver IRL and I never get bored at work)

what is more traffic ?
i usualy see a few train coming from the other direction

in Peninsula Corridor: San Francisco - San Jose i see a lot of traffic
sometimes 1 train each 5 minutes

i have no idea on how many train people wants to see
i only think gwe could use a few more trains and Lirr
but then the timetables needs adjusting too i guess

GWE is good at lots of traffic, For peninsula corridor you need to buy the additional DLC. Traffic is much like in reality. For the German route you get lots of additional services if you combine the DLC.

What I mean about traffic is the density of trains on the same line. Like I said, there's never another train in front of you. You only get green signals all the time except when you arrive at your final station. Some diversity would be great, like a train running late in front so you get some problems too.

Crossing a train every five minutes is nothing... Especially on busy commercial lines. In Belgium (where I live), there're some busy lines with at least 1200 trains per day. That's almost one every minute.
Okay Belgium is one of the countries with the most dense railway network, and I know that would be way too hard to translate in a video game but I just would like more random things popping in the game. Maybe I ask too much but if you drive the same train at the same hour in TSW, nothing's ever gonna change from the last time.

(Sorry if I'm not getting clear, I sometimes struggle to get understood as English is not my primary language)

EDIT: I have almost every DLC and I get the same feeling with everyone of them

Being a train Driver in real life, I am sure then you understand schedules — as @Rudolf Jan stated, for timetabled or services, DTG seems to do a decent job of follow the schedule for the class of equipment and franchises they have for the line. Additional services will take additional DLC to still stay realistic with the type of traffic and schedules experienced on the line.

What has helped a lot, on the German routes in particular, is the modification of the services to include locomotives and rolling stock from other routes to be included if you own those routes. Though a few errors have been made, it seems the best way to keep the simulation as realistic to real world routes as can be by only including appropriate stock on the line.

I admit I didn't think about franchises.
But am I the only thinking the game lacks a bit of randomness sometimes?

What I mostly was asking for was some random delays happening on the way from time to time. They don't have to add new stock. Just adding more trains with the current equipment and franchises and make bots drive it on the line.
You never get an unexpected yellow signal then a red one because another train has to get in front of you, never get deviated, never get to couple or uncouple (except in scenarios), never get your main circuit breaker to randomly open, etc.
I know it's just a game, I was just saying that driving the same route over and over and never getting anything different from the last time is kinda boring me in the end.

i have run a lot of services some are the same
but there are enough with yellow lights and even red light and traffic in front of you
having to slow down some for yellow and red lights get boring fast too
im enjoying the services as they are now
except for a few ones with obvious mistakes and or bugs in them
so you can almost not finish them
