Journey Mode.
Was hoping someone would fill me in on what the point is to this mode? After having a browse all it seems to be is nothing more than a mix of existing scenarios, timetable "service mode" runs and tutorials for that particular loco. The only noticeable new thing now is medals based on performance that you'd see back in the section career for TS.

Only thing I could find was in the update notes.

Added ‘Journeys’:

More than 24 hours of sequential gameplay for Peninsula Corridor, Main-Spessart Bahn, Northern Trans-Pennine, Long Island Rail Road, Great Western Express and CSX Heavy Haul
Strings together existing training modules, scenarios and a curated selection of services with defined weather and other parameters
Enables players to simply keep clicking next and explore everything a route has to offer

I've only been through the GWE so far and will have a look at CSX HH tonight.

All I've done in Journey mode is the Class 66 tutorial and the aggregate scenario so after completing those and getting the medals for both I looked back at the tutorial and scenario tabs and they were marked as completed with the medals too.

i had an 8.6gb update and all i can see that is new is the new layouts ,

There's another thread about duplicated files ranging up to 26GB from the update that's worth checking out too as I've duplicate ones taking up space.

for me journeys are just the tutorials

All a bit disappointing really... not even any new static scenarios.

It'd been nice to have some dynamic content where random and unpredictable issues occur during a scenario, so it is different each time you play.

I guess the question is to what degree the copy and paste goes until a person is either fed up entirely or just wait until the discounts reache a more agreeable price.

I'm also struggling to understand what's the point of this function. Why would they add something like this and not a free roam mode? Weren't enough people asking for it to be added already?

its funny how they made a big deal of this 2020 , really thought journey would be more. like why would i wanna repeat the same scenarios that i did years ago..

It is just an introduction to the route. Tutorials, scenarios and a selection of services are put together. Good thing is that chapters allows you to filter the type of tasks (e.g: freight or passenger).

Cheers

I'm missing journey mode on the Tees Valley line

Matt Peddleston- the producer stated something to the effect that journeys are aimed for players who don't know what to do next or want someone else to create an experience. He described it as a curated game mode. It strings things together scenarios and activities into a bit of a story mode. The difference is that the developer chose certain conditions - weather and lighting that is outside of and beyond a drivers control. He went on to say that is helps to show off the routes that maybe some players might not otherwise experience. Played this morning on the GWR the second real activity in journey mode and it had me driving to Reading in poor lighting, light fog and heavy rain. I rather enjoyed it. Just hit continue journey button and see what you get next.
