For the avoidance of doubt: there will not be a publicly released editor for Train Sim World (any edition).

Independent developers who wish to get involved in making add-ons for the game can do so via the Partner Program, which is currently being overhauled (and rarely replies to anyone - I'm chasing it, will update when I have more information.)

For those who see having a universal, full creation suite of modding tools and an editor available as essential: this is not the game that will offer that. Disappointment is inevitable, but no amount of posting will move this position, there are simply too many factors, technical, commercial and legal, involved in making it happen. No, I won't unpick those factors because it will change absolutely nothing.

They did kill their next gen train game :D

You say "kill" but there are still alot of people out there who enjoy the content which has been released for TSW1 and will continue to support and buy DLC for TSW2.

Yes, no publicly released editor is disappointing but it won't kill the franchise. As it stands, there are significantly more console players compared to on PC.....I would argue that they don't and never have cared about the existence of the editor.

What do you think keep old train sim after all those years floating. With this game soon to be abandonware. You would be crazy to even try co collect things. Yes they do care only about casuals and why not. But at the same time they deserve no support from comunity. If you enjoy the game good for you. You guys deserve a lot better than this plastic train game.

And yes it will kill the game. Same policy regarding 3rd party addons killed their air sim. It will probably kill this as well.

I am a PC Player and, to be honest, i dont care about an editor or multiplayer.

What i want is a bugfree (as far as possible) and polished product.

Just my 2 cents :-)

PS: I dont need a TSW2.
I would pay them 25 bucks to kill bugs from TSW2020 !

The situation with FSW was completely different. There was no console release of FSW propping up sales as there is for TSW.

TSW also is not competing against the likes of X-plane, MS Flight Sim & P3D in the marketplace.

I am not disagreeing with you that no editor will drive away a portion of the community but it isn't its death knell.

Will be interested to hear anything that you can post. The Q&A post about 3rd party content didn't sound very welcoming.

No pubic editor means the TSW franchise is dead for me.

At least with TS people can create things and then decide whether they want to release it as a commercial product, or release it for free. That's how many early TS commercial products started.

It's annoying that DTG has led us up the garden path for a few years. TSW is not the next generation simulator we expected it to be, it's become a limited console game.

I'll tell that again, even that I told this already in other threads. On DTG's TSW2020 forum, one guy who watched the Q&A session said that DTG announced that they will transfer only a part of DLCs from TSW2020 to TSW2 as a preserved collection on the start and in the future they plan to transfer the rest of it. As I already said I can't tell that this is a 100% true information, but if this information exists, it can be true, and if it is true then it can be possible that some DLCs from TSW2020 will stay in this game forever and never transfered to TSW2. Because when DTG say that they will do something in the future, nobody know when that future will happen. It can be a day after release or a 3 years after release, or in the next game TSW3 that I'm sure they will release. And here comes another question. When they release the next game "TSW3", what will happen to all DLCs from "TSW2"? Will they become a preserved collection? Even if the answer is "yes", there is another question. What will happen then to DLCs from "TSW2020"? Will they become a preserved collection or they will be so incompatible with "TSW3" that they will be just thrown away? And will the "TSW2020" stay running for people that own it? In one thread somebody mentioned that this game have Denuvo protection and if game will be no longer supported it will just stop working. With so many questions I think it is very unwise to continue invest money in this game.

Any new version of UE requires re-cooking of all files.

Either you do this, for free or for an update charge, or you don’t and Preserve the content.

DTG will not let that Preserved content go to waste. Eventually, perhaps, when resources allow, it will be remastered, re-cooked and sold ‘as new’.

So after this finally honest PR person’s messages you know what you sign up for with TSW2. Same meager content, same bugs, same promises ...
perhaps even more bugs?

And then UE5 comes about, and the cycle repeats itself.

That's what I mean. They will surely release "TSW3", it is only a matter of time, and then all what happens now, will happen again. So is it worth to buy a new game and any of it's DLCs? I don't think so. I already owned "TSW CSX Heavy haul" that was updated to "TSW2020" and had no bug fixes, and now it is a dead game. It is better to spend money for something else. Some another AAA game that have the same price as a price of one DTG's DLC but have much more content in it, or maybe to spend the money on something completely different. Anyway it will be better than to buy another game from DTG. That's my point of view. Some may agree some may not.

I bought the game after seeing videos of a TSW full track/scenary editor in working development, expected to be able to make my own routes/edits. Utterly astonished they're forcing people to buy in to another game for a minor unreal feature update (4 to 5 is major, 4.1 to 4.2 is minor).
Fishing4Trains Jun 20, 2020 @ 8:11am
I don't see much point in buying TSW2 tbh. Apart from the London Tube (which doesn't really interest me - 1 train, very little scenery, no freight and no inclines), there's nothing there too attract me. I would have bought it if there had been an editor and you could bring in stuff from TSW.
I'll be topping up my content for train sim and TSW in the sales, that, along with my other train games, will keep me going for years. Trainz 2019 has a very good editor too.

This is what they wrote (not just said!) on the TSW2 page on Steam: "Preserved Collection

Your collection comes with you. Train Sim World has always been about your collection, your choice of Add-Ons from your favorite region, time period, diesel, electric, passenger, freight - your way.
Your purchased Train Sim World 2020 Add-Ons will be available to play in Train Sim World 2 ".
I would also like to point out that the contents of TSW1 are chained together. So, for example, if you buy DB 182 Loco Addons you must have the DLC Rapid Transit, if you buy BR Classe 20 you must have TVL and also WSR, etc.
It is the case that DTG takes serious efforts to achieve this goal in the shortest possible time.
