Update won't download: not supported file system
this is the second time this has happened. first time it was on my portable drive. I uninstalled and reinstalled on my main drive. games been fine for 6 month. Now on my main drive I'm not able to update the game as the error comes up while preallocating "Unsupported file system" and I have plenty of disk space 150gb. Any one have any Idea of why this is happening after an update?

Thanks for the link. After reading this information and checking my hard drive, it is already a NTFS drive system. Now what?

Click properties instead and see what it says under file system.
my last message I did say I checked "it is already a NTFS drive system"

As the issue is with the Steam client rather than the game itself the best source of support would be Steams dedicated support forums or opening a ticket with Steam support
Thank you for reply I did not think it was your error, was just covering all bases.

I did open a ticket still on going. They told me its not their problem and to find a specialist in my region

told them it happened after they updated steam my answer to the steam support was "your saying your not a specialist" then find some one in your department that is"

Have you checked to ensure the folder you're trying to write to hasn't become write protected?

It's also worth ensuring you've disabled any security software you have running.
why would the file become write protected when there is a new update, what would cause that to happen with an update. And what folder am i supposed to be looking at with in the the steam folder. I personally do not touch files or folders changing their status.

I turned off my security software. still wont update

I sure hope you are helping out this customer. The last thing you posted here was on May 7th ?? Here we are 5 days later and not a single reply. They said the security is OFF and still NO UPDATE. So... help them.

Why? The issue is clearly the fault of this guys computer / hard disk and not TSW. Steam is generating this error, not TSW. If there was an issue with the update, there would be alot more people posting about it here and on the DTG forums.

The fact that a representative from DTG is helping him at all is going beyond the call of duty imo.

He should be posting this in the Steam support section or possibly getting in contact with the manufacturer of his HDD/s

I only get alerted to a reply if the OP quotes my response which they did not. Neither did you I may add and I only saw your post as I actively check these forums from time to time when our outstanding tickets are completed.

You'll note that we have an actual support site and as such after a bank holiday weekend replying to these tickets takes priority rather than searching the forum for users who've not managed to find their way to it: {LINK REMOVED}

The problem is with Steam, not the game. Nothing that DTG can do about it.... Check this: https://support.steampowered.com/kb_cat.php?id=59&t=qanda#9709-FKCB-4230

To me, it looks like the HDD is dying. Like the guide suggested, did you try to do a check disk ?
Also, do you have other games ? The games that you have installed, did they get an update ? If so, did they update correctly ? Can you try to download another game and see if you can install it ? Are you really sure the partition where its installed the game is NTFS ?
Can you post a screenshot of your Disk Manager ? Just type Disk Manager on Windows's Start menu, the first result.
This is mine, as an example:

And BTW, there are a LOT of discussions about this:
https://www.google.com/search?q=steam+not+supported+file+system+site:steamcommunity.com&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwiE4sya5rDpAhXYWRUIHXNKBugQrQIoBDAEegQIARAQ&biw=2048&bih=1010&dpr=1.25
because i had two places i was getting help from Steam support and here, did not add how much free space here to this chat. my main where game was installed is 150gb free space on a 1Tb drive/ and my external is a 2 Tb drive with 1.6gb free space. Both are NTFS formatted so It's not a space issue or the format issue. Steam did an update and game had an update at same time. As that Steam and Dev's can not give me a definitive answer as to why I've uninstalled the game.
all my other game installed and needing an update, do update with out any issues I've updated 7 games since i have started this post. just finished updating 2 games before answering this post
