The last time I had problems charging the brakes I noticed a notification in the upper right corner of the screen that the emergency brake valve had been opened. I don’t know if that was the result of excess application of the master control lever or I had accidentally pressed one of the controller buttons I normally don’t use. After I used the mouse to close the emergency brake valve (a red handle to the left of the upper windscreen) the brake charging button started working again.
Wow, thanks for the detailed explanation.
I really wish they would give more hints and information about what is going on in the game.
Sometimes you can be looking for half an hour just because some switch got flipped and nothing tells you.
To be clear, this is a tutorial called "BR 146.2 Introduction" that is part of the "Main-Spessart Bahn journey" which doesn't allow me to adjust or control anything unless the previous part of the tutorial has been satisfied with.
So while I'm waiting for the brake system to be charged (brake gauges shows it is charged already) nothing can be done, no brakes can be released/set, no emergency brake valves can be cycled... nothing.
I'll keep trying and if I manage to continue this... journey I'll post it here.
The key to the solution is that when you enter the cab, if you stay away from the marker, you have full control over your unit. So I did everything on the back panel, closed the circuit breaker, held the train line button to the start position (I have no clue what the button is supposed to do, but I guess it did something), released the train brake, set the independent brake to the apply position, en went to the marker in the middle of the cab. Now I only had to push the battery again, and all the other steps skipped, including the brake charge one. Because the independent brake was locked into place after I continued, I had to finish the tutorial with the independent brake applied.
I tried again several times after that to try and formulate a solid solution, but sadly it didn't work the second time. So if you want to have a chance, don't go into the marker before your brakes have charged. Good luck!
Thank you Haverknol!
I've had to try twice, and the second time I went inside, avoided the blue beam, sat down and went through an entire power-up, released every brake (also parking brake), set the train brake to 1B because I started to roll, and when I got up I had to go outside to trigger the blue beam inside again.
I sat down and pressed the battery button after which it skipped all the way ahead to raising the pantograph.
I like the Main-Spessart Bahn scenery, the trains are fun and the track is beautiful, but it is so far the only one where I keep running into issues.
Many of the rides don't have time schedules, I think the best fun is trying to get to each stop in time, and at another drive, I have to physically get out of the chair, go outside, and open a door before people started boarding.
Just switching the left side doors to "unlock" doesn't seem to work.
Every other scenery has been trouble-free so far.
Brilliant, that is all that is needed. Avoid the marker in the cab, sit in drivers seat, set brakes to full service, then get up and continue from there. Thanks a lot.
