No Sound in TSW only... need some advice
Hi All. I bought a new gaming laptop for Christmas (MSI GS63 Stealth, 16GB, 8th Generation i7-8750H, NVIDIA GTX 1060 (6GB), Realtek Audio).

Here is the problem... I get no sound at all in TSW. Sound works everywhere else perfectly (windows, videos, other games - even TS2019, Steam or no Steam). You name it, it works everywhere but in TSW. The game runs and plays great. Graphics are at the highest setting and look outstanding, so again, no issues anywhere else in the game but audio.

I contacted DTG support and they told me to update my video and realtek drivers. I tried to do each but the system will not let me (saying the ones installed are the latest for my device).

Anybody else see something similar? I have scoured this board and seen multiple entries in the past on sound being weak or very low, but nothing really about no sound at all. On a whim I even updated the ini file recommended in other posts to increase the sound %'s up to 250 & 350. Still nothing.

Any and all recommendations or guidance would be appreciated. Thanks

Did you use proper settings for the sound? I know it sounds silly, but you can turn off sound in the gaem.

Also check to see if TSW isn't muted in the windows mixer settings while the game is running.

I've checked both in game and windows mixer settings. Both are showing all is on and working normally.

Not sure if you have already done this, but try verifying the installation or failing that a reinstall?

I would also suggest reinstalling directx redistributables but I suspect that isn't the issue seeing as sound works fine in everything else.

Certainly a strange one

Hmm, not sure but if you drive the train with windows closed, there is not much sound. It's just silent.

I have sound, but it sounds very very low to me then it should be. So i also wonder if there,s something to do with the game. I have to put the volume up much higher then any other game.

Search in this forum, you'll find some lines which you have to put into the config file.
The sounds are bugged since release (also the sound stays on outside if you open and close the windows or switch the views) nearly 2 years ago.

Thanks all. Still no go. Long time player of Train Simulator. Thoroughly frustrated. No support from DTG as they simply say to check my drivers. ALL OTHER GAMES....EVERY ONE.... SOUND IS PERFECT. It is the game, not my system.

Do you hear music at the main menu? If so, it has nothing to do with config files as suggested

Er...no it doesn’t. He’s getting no sound at all, it’s nothing to do with the .ini file.

TSW has a Low sound problem. You need to go into the "GameUserSettings" file in notepad and change them. Below is what I use.

MasterSoundVolume=3.000000
MusicSoundVolume=2.000000
SFXSoundVolume=2.000000
AmbienceSoundVolume=2.000000
DialogueSoundVolume=2.000000
ExternalAlertVolume=2.000000
MenuSFXVolume=2.000000

Navigate to the folder
<mydocuments>\My Games\TS2Prototype\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor
and open the file GameUserSettings.ini

Once you do this do Not adjust the sound sliders in the game menu

Many thanks!
