How to ride as passenger?
How can you make so you can ride as a passenger and just hop between stations?

You wait at a station (look at the timetable you can download), enter the train as a passenger and ride. You must start in timetable mode by foor, not selecting a mission.

Service Mode / Start off on Foot / Select Starting Point (ie Station) and time of day. Best to check the timetable to see when trains arrive and set a time just before then unless you like standing around on a platform not doing anything.

You can also ride as a passenger by starting in a loco and sitting down in the passenger area...and the game will eventually prompt you asking for the AI to take over. This seems to take a while though and sometimes doesn't trigger..so its alot easier to do it the first way.

I'll have to try it some time.. I really like this new TSW.. Alot crispier and smooth than TS18 but I still like it too, just saying this one is far cleaner looking and real life looking.. I really hope they bring some of the same US freight routes that I have in TS18 too the new one.. I know it literally just came out, so it will be awhile I'm sure to get each route out again..

Further question on this. Can you start out as a passenger then take over a train as an engineer to drive the next schedule? Example, you ride as passenger from San Jose then in San Francisco take the next southbound train as an engineer. Do you just get in the engineer's seat before scheduled departure and drive off as normal?

Yes. You can go to sit down in the engineer's seat whenever the train is stationary. You will immediately get the next instruction and you can see the timetable by pressing Esc or T.

Note that AI drivers do not necessarily set all the controls correctly. I have no idea how it might affect Peninsular Corridor, but the AI drivers on Northern Transpennine manage to drive vacuum-braked trains with air brakes enabled.

Nice, Thanks! I tried this and worked great. Would be awesome though if the timetable was available for viewing whilst waiting on the platforms. You've either got to view the timetable before loading the "on foot" scenario, or, once on the platform, if you're looking for a specific train, you have to hop on board each then sit in engineer seat to see the departure time. The trains don't flip to the current trip number until JUST before the trip starts.

I've found lots of routes in TSW PC that match the current CT schedule almost perfectly though so this helps planning. I was able to match the timetable in real-time very closely until a few stations down the track when I blew past San Mateo..oops!
