How to fix 21:9 HOR+ FOV scaling (3440x1440 ultra-widescreen) - UnrealEngine4 issue
So, the game uses UE4 and UE4 by default has horrible VERT- scaling on the FOV. This was fine in the "old days" but now that monitors are getting wider at ratios such as 21:9, in order for game engines to function correctly on these monitors they MUST use HOR+ FOV scaling.

Since this option is not set by default in UE4, it looks absolutely awful on my 21:9 monitor at 3440x1440 compared with my 16:9 TV at 4K. It makes the FOV scaling feel claustrophobic and the image to appear distorted, lowering image quality drastically.

There is a user fix for this which I wanted to share with forum users in case anyone else is having issues with 21:9 resolutions. Also I'd like Dovetail Games to take note of this and change the default in a future patch to ensure they are supporting all ultra-widescreen monitors in their games, please! (BTW this is the same in your other games using UE4 such as Euro Fishing).

To change FOV scaling to HOR+ instead of VERT-:

1. Navigate to: "Documents\My Games\TS2Prototype\Saved\Config\WindowsNoEditor"
2. Open "Engine.ini" in your favourite text editor
3. Add the following lines to the end of the file:

[/script/engine.localplayer]
AspectRatioAxisConstraint=AspectRatio_MaintainYFOV

Now the only thing that isn't quite right is the fish-eye effect from the actual FOV value which I CANNOT REDUCE. This should be available in the in-game settings please - as a nice middle ground would be ideal, using HOR+ and having a not so fish-eyed view! Currently it feels like it's set about 90-100 but it should be around 75-80 for best viewing on 21:9. Some people like it higher or lower though so a slider in the game options would be fantastic. I can't believe a game in 2017/2018 would NOT have an FOV slider in the options.

So this is a compromise solution currently, until we get that FOV slider in game. It's difficult to make this game fully comfortable on a 21:9 monitor right now so hope this can be resolved in the near future. Thanks.

EDIT: I have also raised this as a ticket to Dovetail games on their bug tracking website. Bug number DJL-718-39065. If any of you are experiencing this same issue please contact Dovetail with this ticket number to register your support for this to be fixed at their side, thanks.

I just tried your fix. Like you said, the fish-eye effect ruins it. I hope Jay gets this information delivered into the hands of the programmers.

21:9 is now working correctly in the new patch

YES!! It appears so! :D

This is the new view I have without any file editing now (compare to my first screenshot "before fix" above for how it used to look)

I didn't see anything in the patch notes about it, but it looks like they increased the default FOV slightly because we now see more below as well as to the sides. In any case it's a lot better now.
