LIRR introduction train too long
On (one of) the first introduction(s) to LIRR you have to stop the train at a station which doesn't accomedate for the amount of cars you're given. Why isn't this noticed during development and why isn't is fixed yet?

Ok, thanks.
But i guess in real life not all door would open, so why not program this in game???????

I never really understood why Americans can build flyovers way higher than necessary, mile long trains and lots of other infrastructural engineering that is way overdone, but apparently cannot afford to build a platform long enough for a whole passenger train to fit on.

Ah well... I guess its things like this which makes US routes a whole different experience compared to European routes. :)

It is in the game:

1. Insert the door control key
2. Switch it to DOORS/COMM
3. Keep the PARTIAL OPEN button pressed until the LED turns orange
4.Unlock/lock the forward or rearward doors depending on platform position relative to the train
5. Pretend the correct doors have opened/closed lol

If you do this, no doors will open at all.

One reason @Purno the US passenger routes in real life are so different is that they are considered secondary means of transportation. Long Distance passenger services started hemorrhaging money in the late 50’s and never recovered. Commuter services usually are heavily subsidized and most are running over access rights on freight roads. A few notable exceptions like the North East Corridor where that consortium owns the rails but that is an expception rather than the rule.

Most freight roads tolerate paassenger service but do not invest much in the way of passsenger infrastructure if at all.

Real-world example: "To exit the train eastbound at Murray Hill, customers must be in the rear four cars. Westbound customers must be in the front four cars. For additional information, call 511 and say LIRR."

True Story. Murray Hill is a sunken station also not very high customer volume.

Alright, I know I am 3 years late, but if anyone else comes across this, it is implemented into the game. The way they do it in real life is that there is a switch on the top right of the left console in the area where you sit down to operate (the same panel with the headlights). The switch is called door zone. In real life, you have one engineer (operator), one conductor (opens and closes the doors from whatever position), and multiple brakemen who come around and check the tickets on customers and put little pieces of paper on seats that indicate how many people are seated in a seat, to make sure everyone there has paid. Now, the conductor can open and close doors from any cab so, what they do is, before the train arrives at the station, the brakemen or conductor turns a switch called "Door Zone F (or B depending on which cab you are on, it is indicated at the bottom of the cab window on the exterior)" what you do is set it to "off" if you don't want the doors to open in that specific car (not pair which is two cars with one cab per car) but that one car from the cab to the gangway. If you do want them to open, you set it to through, and they all open. Hope this helps.
