I shudder to think what's going to happen, when there's a decent amount of AI traffic (with large consists), multiple lines with OLE, & large complex urban city scenes in route. Right now, I suspect the game would simply painfully grind to a halt.
This making people believe there's likely something wrong with their PC should stop. It's surely better to reassure folk there are current significant problems with the game's optimisation. With TSW right now making very poor using of a PC's hardware (both cpu & gpu).
Everyone should just chill, let DTG do their stuff in resolving the problems. I'm sure they'll get there in the coming months. The player community can then reassess how the game runs in say six months down the 'line' - forgive the bad pun. ;)
DTG could though help themselves, with better communication to their customer base (some 18,000 purchasers), being honest in letting them know what's going on (i.e the cause of problems), & indication of their strategy for getting things back on 'track' (there I go again! lol).
As you have lived with Father Dougal your level of patience has already been tested! So you may be able to handle the low frames in places. But if your nerves are already frayed then stay away for now begorrah! A big factor could be if you like American style heavy hauling or not. If you like just mucking about with trains in the yard & doing your own thing, then there is some mileage in it, the frames are OK in places.
EDIT: somehow i have whiled away 32 hours playing it, no idea where the time went so it must have something going for it.
This is the most difficult and also the most impossible question to answer, as there is no answer at this time. So thus:
It depends what you expect at this very moment in time in the game-future-timeline.
Buy now and live with the growing pains or don't and come back later when hopefully they are over... all at your own discretion.
If I were to add my personal feelings knowing DTG and TS well enough, I would come back in a couple of years and see what TSW is all about then...
sorry my english ! Brakes free dont problem.
