Does 12 orbits work on the Steam Deck? Does it run well?

Yes.

12 orbits runs smoothly on pretty much anything that has enough power to run Steam itself.

Does 12 orbits run natively on SteamOS, or does it use Proton?

Natively.

12 orbits has a Linux build, and that is what you’ll get when you first download the game on a Steam Deck.

The Windows version itself also works perfectly fine on SteamOS though (by forcing the use of Proton in the compatibility settings), and could be a fallback if you ever encounter any problems.

Can you add players with the touchscreen?

Yes. This did not work originally, but has been updated by now.
