Sorry to hear that. This has not happened before, so I’ll need to ask you some questions to narrow this down, and hopefully find a solution:
For point 5, here is how to switch to the older version:
Restart Steam, then right click on 12 orbits in your library. Select properties, then the betas tab, and finally opt into the version 1.350. After closing the properties window, it should now say [1.350] next to 12 orbits in the library, and Steam should update the files.
nothing about hardware changed when it was still working it i a while i played it like 6 months if i am guesing
the problem appears when i am selecting the cars i want to play on and when i am playing on the map
i found out by pausing the game the map will appear but when i want to play it disappears
where can i upload the screenshot it shows exacly the problem
If you made a screenshot using the Steam screenshot functionality, there is a guide on how to post these here: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=181142704
It may be easier to use any normal image hoster though, and to post the link here. For example this one: https://lensdump.com (no need to register, just "start uploading")
The third option would be to just send me an email, to games@romanuhlig.com
I also send you a friend request, as this may be easier to do via chat.
For others who find this post and have the same problem:
Basically, your monitor is not showing you the colors it should be showing. It is probably making everything too bright. And sometimes, when a monitor or a PC tries to make something more bright, it “cheats” and just makes it more white instead. Since the circles and the background in 12 orbits are both different shades of (light) grey, if you make them whiter and whiter, at some point they just both become white themselves.
This explains why you can see the playfield once you pause the game (note: this is no longer possible with the current update, as the pause screen now shows the game description instead of the playfield). Because if you do that, the game puts a partly transparent layer on top of the playfield, and everything becomes about 50% darker. It also explains why you can make screenshots of the problem, and they will look fine on other PCs or on your smartphone.
Now why exactly is that?
The most likely reason is a monitor setting. Every monitor should have a setting to restore the default settings. That might help.
On top of that, there might also be some presets such as “movie”, “game” or “dynamic”. If there is, I would try to choose “standard”, “normal”, or something that sounds similar. Other settings sometimes try to adjust the contrast to the currently shown content, and that can cause similar problems. Using the standard setting is almost always the best choice for any situation. It may look dull at first, compared to your current setting, but that is only because the colors become more accurate and less exaggerated.
Finally, just turning down the brightness itself on the monitor could also help. It should be rare that a monitor actually makes the image whiter just to increase the brightness via the normal brightness setting, but this was actually the case for the person who created this thread.
The problem could also be some software setting related to your graphics card, or windows itself. It is unlikely if you have not specifically changed the brightness / colors within windows, but not impossible. However, this would be very specific to your PC, and I can give you no further guidance other than to search for color and brightness settings, and restore them to their defaults.
Tl;dr:
12 orbits isn't exactly demanding for your hardware, but you can probably use it to stress-test your monitor settings :-)
