Linux: Can't play via steam

Title says it all. I installed the game and tried to play via steam, but all I get is a message that ScummVM isn't found. It is in fact missing from the ~/.steam directories.

Even with a apt-get install of scummvm it doesn't work.

Only solution, after having bought the game via steam, is to install scummvm debian package, and run scummvm directly without using steam.

Same issue here on Arch Linux. For some reason when launching the game looks for scummvm.exe? On Linux?

Can someone please fix the linux repo so that we can either play this via Steam Play or natively.

I had the same problem, and found this (somewhat old) thread. I contacted Steam support, and after a couple of rounds was given a solution (Thanks Malerie!).

The Linux version even existing seems to be an error as the store page not does indicate a Linux version. However, you can force Steam Play, even for games that have a Linux version. Right-click the game in your Library and select Properties. There should be a checkbox for "Force the use of Steam Play". This will cause the Windows version to download and run through Proton. It was working for me with Proton 4.2-9.

(You _might_ need to enable Steam Play for all games for the option to be available.)

Of course, you can always install ScummVM from your Linux distro and manually add the game, using the game data included in the incomplete Linux version Steam downloads. That works too, but you loose some convenience.

I tried to run it through Proton 4.11-2 and only Classic version works properly. Enhanced version simply is not working.

considering SCUMMVM has a native Linux port, there's no reason the developers can't take a day or two to set up a Linux build for this game and upload it to Steam

I'll even volunteer to do it, assuming they still read these forums.
