Spell of the day - what's the best spell you've come up with?
I was thinking it could be fun to post a Spell of the Day gif on social media (including here). I posted this one to Twitter the other day.

What's the best spell you've come up with?

I posted this one on discord a while ago:

Same spell in a more recent version of the game:

I found this pretty much ridiculous:

It's just fire creo + rain + size + move. Highly mana efficient and kills stuff in no time. Not sure if it's supposed to stack like that though.
I have been experimenting with Inverse-Swift spells recently. The cost goes way down and the cast speed penalty is ignored by triggers. Anything that benefits from both Random and Inverse-Swift is going to be pretty broken.

I am partial to Actus spells since their innate flexibility allows me to not use Ether. My go-tos are Homing, non-Move Actuses or Periodic, At Once Move Actuses.

I'll post a video of mine once the NDA lifts (just a heads up, might wanna take the twitter stuff down for now)

He's one of the devs, so it should be ok?! =)

Huh, didn't see he was a dev. Well now I'm perplexed haha.
Ha ha, yes, sorry for the confusion. The reason for the NDA was that we didn't want lots of videos online showing the game before it's ready. There are some obvious things we need to fix, like the placeholder text for the Kickstarter backers, and some less-obvious things as well. Also, we didn't want spoilers for all of the puzzles in the game - at least on day 1! :)

On the other hand, we'd love to showcase some of the cool things you can do with the spellcrafting system to get people's imagination going. It's hard to communicate that line of what's ok/not ok to share, so we thought it best just to ask people not to share anything yet.

That said, I'd love to make some .gifs of different spells you can make. I have a few like the one I posted above, and a rotating turret that shoots fireballs. One other beta tester also make a shield that pushes enemies away and shoots fireballs. (Ego + homing + inverse + periodic --> Actus + move)

I love that you can stack and chain effects with cascading "impact" and "proximity" spells...I have an electro fireball that produces a thunderstorm on impact and a fire rain on proximity. Nothing is having a good time with that sitting over them!

Air actus with homing, random, and an impact triggering itself - drop a couple of these on a boss and it rapidly escalates into a swarm of buzzing orbs flitting randomly around and through the enemy, doubling up every time they hit. Very cool! Definitely the cheapest way to take out a big enemy.

Edit: Also works on a swarm! I added a proximity trigger of itself, and then I targetted that are in the quarry where you fight the swarm of oozes. Almost instangly, it dumped my entire mana pool into a flood of sparks that burst forth and washed over the screen, annihilating everything... So many of them that the game actually started stuttering trying to keep up. I didn't dare use a mana flower for fear of crashing the game from the sheer number of them.

actus with mastery, dublicate, homing, (optional: teleport), impact to cast detonation immediate and proximity to cast itself ... I keep it on default to air with detonationt on air and aura wand, but should enemy be air resistand I just change element to fire or ice for both actus and immediate and swap to corresponing wand ... this spell setup is enough strong to take out trolls on 1-2 casts :) other favor for aoe is creo+rain+periodic self cast loopet to swift with ether rune and having mastery ... again changing element to whats needed (earth is safe bet since no enemies seem immune to it but fire and air do serious dmg (and air is kind of cool effect too))

to add, that single actus spell was enough to wipe entire dark tower out in ~3-4min (only needed change element to fire and back to air at 1st room), on last boss single cast was strong enough to clear the stage

((dublicate makes it triple ball, homing and balls never miss even after initial mob has died, soon as ball hits: explosion ...and it keeps casting itself long as there is mobs nearby or till mana runs out (means it stops manadrain soon as nearby mobs are out) and mastery on air ... just wipes out entire room really fast with endless string of chain attacks))

and my movement spell: air ego with move and time ... can move half the map in matter of seconds and go trough any mob thats on way (just have to mind mana drain to no spamm too much while mobs on pursuit):)

My end-all spell was an Igni, modified with move and homing that triggered on impact into a fire rain, that triggered on proximity into lightning storm, that triggered into a rock fall, that triggered into an ice fall.

After that it started from the fire rain again.

Yes, 1 cast of this emptied your mana completely, but there was nothing in the game that survived it.

I love doing over-the-top useless stuff like this, it brought me great joy!

So sad the game didn't actually live out its own depth!

Imagine all the puzzles and situations that you can have with a system this deep!

It's a bit overkill, considering that there can only be like 10 rain spots at once, so you run out of mana and the 10 most recent triggers stay while the rest have already vanished.

For mana efficiency, it's just better to use teleport+move+fire+rain that uses at once to trigger a copy of itself in another spell slot which doesn't have the at once rune.

But this game is meant to be crazy and using all your mana for one spell so, whatever is flashiest works
