Rune locations and what order to pick them up?
Need a guide. Skipped on a lot of the challenges because "I don't have the runes necessary" .. I'm now just about to enter the dark tower that says I'm not allowed back once I enter and I need a guide on how to find all the runes and in what order... Anyone?

I am trying to get a list compiled for the wiki, but for now players can just ask where Runes are or what Runes are in what locations. I have a working memory from the first half of the game or so, though I have a general idea where everything is.

I need bounce, ether, inverse, periodic, proximity, rain, size, swift and teleport... Trouble is unless you know where they all are, I won't be able to complete them without unlocking a prerequisite rune first. That's why I need to know which order.
Of that list, you actually qualify for most of them just playing through the story. Give me a bit to type out a response for you.
  1. Bounce: Mystralia Castle, Abandoned Port. There are 4 torches scattered on the water. Timing is tight, but the puzzle is doable. Time Rune is your friend here.
  2. Rain: The Rise, north of the warp point. Puzzle that requires Bounce, but the solution is simply using Bounce.
  3. Ether: The Highlands, left path from Mystralia Castle's graveyard. Magic seal puzzle. I can post a solution if you would like it straight.
  4. Size: The Highlands, south of the Ether puzzle. Puzzle requires lighting three torches simultaneously. Right-Duplicate will do the trick if you stand at the right angle.
  5. Teleport: Winding Glade. Part of a sidequest involving the beggar in Mystralia Castle. He needs bread on two separate occasions. I can elaborate if necessary, but you will need to visit the Size location.
  6. Periodic: Memory is a bit fuzzy, but I believe it comes from a portal-based combat encounter in the Lava Grotto. The portal is reached by detonating a pillar near the boss' chamber.
  7. Swift: Again, memory is fuzzy, but I believe it comes from a portal-based puzzle in Grayleaf. The portal is in the northern tower. You need a Right-Move Actus and an Inverse-Left-Move Actus to hit both torches. It may take a few attempts, but that is the common solution as far as I know.
  8. Proximity: Haven, prize from the Trial of Mages. Clear 8-ish waves and the Rune is yours.
  9. Inverse: Tomb of the Mage-Kings. There is an out-of-the-way staircase somewhere in one of the southern branches. Unfortunately, I cannot be more specific than that without booting up my computer for comparison.

    Hope this helps.

Is there a community guide floating around? Would certainly make things easier.

This helped alot. Thank you. I got them all but am still missing Periodic. Not sure what the lava boss bit was but I already cleared it so it couldn't be that.

Perioditic is in the lava grotto to the right of the entance, there is a spell challenge that when completed gives it to you.
