Dynasty mode overkill
Am I missing something, or is the discrepancy at the beginning of dynasty mode almost impossible to overcome? My first two games in the season were against a 95 overall and an 88 overall team. My players couldn’t physically tackle them on most plays, and got blown out 42-0 in 3 minute quarters on rookie.

I know you can trade for a player (once a game) and sign a free agent, but at that point it seems like you just have to buy your way to a new team. Which is tough when my players are so weak, I had to revive 12 players after game 2, which costs cash every game

What am I missing?

spend some money on existing players. 1,500,000 cap to buy stat points. you can buy your way to a 45 overall. invest in run block on offense and tackle on defense. 3 free agenst on first game. still enough for revives. Play with player preservation in mind

I still feel it's overkill even with the hints. The EXP system is set up to a rich get richer system. Sure, you get 6 EXP for a touchdown, but you can't get any touchdowns in the early games. All my 40 something scrubs can do is dink and dunk the ball upfield. My punter can't get any EXP unless I fake punt. My kick returner gets nothing for all those returns he gets unless he goes all the way, and that's not going to happen when you first start out. Even playing as the New London team in a season I think I ran back a whopping 3 KO returns. So put in some ways to earn EXP for the returners and punters please.

And don't say they get it for 1 minute on the field. You know how hard that is to pull off? Especially when their stats are so low they are likely to fumble or throw a pick, which removes EXP. Plus if your punter is actually on the field for 1 minute in a game...you probably punted like 6 - 8 times, which is hard to do if you use low minute quarters.

I also had a few mins trying to figure this out, but it's not really that hard. Read everything. Don't rush. You'll be happy that you did. You start out really weak but once you get the hang of it, you'll dominate.

Purchase XP for your players every week. This is particularly important for linemen, kickers, and punters. Purchase XP until you reach your maximum allotment. It took me 6 games to win my first game. Things are now coming together. I didn't do any trades or sign any free agents, either. Also, try to intially focus on one aspect of your team at a time. Resist the temptation of spending all your points on your skill players. You can't hope to win without a solid line on both sides of the ball.

All you really need to do is keep playing, and don't worry about losses or how bad those losses are. It also helps to keep your playbook simple, and take plays you can actually do. Long pass plays are almost impossible to complete intially.

I chose not to sign any free agents, because I wanted to see if I could compete with a bunch of worthless rookies. It's working just fine. I'm not the world's greatest player, so things aren't as bad as they seem.

It's quite entertaining.

I'm having a blast with Dynasty Mode and it's really brought the game into its own for me. It can be challenging at times but just keep pushing forward and make sure to invest in your team every chance you get.

Well I finally got my first win, 35 - 34. The CPU went for 2 to try to win and was denied. But it was also the worst team in the league, and this was week 7. What I did was devleop my RB every game by spending cash, bought a punter, a line basher, and a guard in free agency to fix up some holes. Spent $$$ on my QB and my blitzers and cornerbacks to upgrade them.

What I had to do also was treat the early games as build EXP only. This meant doing stupd things like going for it on 4th down every time so I could get the +1 EXP for my QB and receiver on a dump off pass (as the punter gets no EXP for punting the ball). I used my dirty tricks early so I could try to get that quick turnover for the +6 EXP. Late in games I'd still use my time outs so my defenders could get +1 EXP for the tackle on the next play, even though I would be behind 49 - 7.

Basically, I had to manipulate how I got EXP and forget about the score for about 5 games or so.

BTW, what difficutly is everyone playing on? I imagine that will change the experience some as well.

Playing in normal as well for now. A bit too easy once you know what you're doing (and have bones jacksinn ^^ ).
It really reminds me of Speedball 2's league mode where you were crap and had to train your guys and/or recruit free agents.
I wouldn't be surprised if it was one of the inspirations behind this mode...

I've played on all difficulty levels starting with normal. The path to success is pretty much the same. Make sure you spend your allotted money each week to buy experience. A good way to start is with your kicker and punter to buy kicking distance. Then, I focus on my offensive line. Buyng some experience for your linemen unlocks the ability quickly to buy experience skill in run and pass blocking. WIthout a good line, your skill players will have troubles. Then focus on your defensive line. Buying speed where you can for coverbacks is also a good thing. SInce you never lose stats, you will eventually have decent starters. Sure, you will have a rough time of it for the first 4 games or so, but the problem will go away. After you get a workable line on both sides of the ball, build up your skill positions.

It's really hard to go wrong.

You can get free agents or do trades, but it's not necassary. Keep in mind throwing around money like crazy on free agents early can lead to massive financial problems quickly.

Yeah and free agents can die as fast as the rest with dirty tricks ^^
