Quick MFL Tips
I have never used the community guide creator before on steam, so I thought I'd make a quick discussion post on some tips I have off the top of my head.

On offense:
- Try to avoid throwing into double and triple coverage if possible.
- If you see no one open, have your qb scramble and run the ball to gain some yards.
- Save your dirty tricks for 3rd/4th down situations
- Save dirty tricks for drives at the end of each half (they refresh after each half)
- It's better to through the ball out of bounds sometimes when opponent uses a dirty trick that can kill or force fumble on contact. (You can do this by pressing Triangle or Y button)
- Run out of bounds or dive to avoid getting hit too brutally, you don't want one of your star players to get killed easily.
- You can hold down the receiver icon pass button to add more power to your pass
- If the defense has bribed the ref, use your "bribe ref" dirty trick instead of using "kill ref"
- Try messing around with the bench option in the playbook if you want certain receivers on the field.
- Some teams have an "Attack QB" Dirty Trick. This causes the defense to jump offside and kill the QB. Run away and try to press the timeout button before they kill you.
edit: timeout tactic patched out. You can easily avoid this dirty trick by running towards your own endzone (running backwards instead of forward). Try jumping a lot if the enemy gets close to killing you.

On Defense:
- You can use the right stick (formerly L1/R1) to use a spin move to shed block
- Use "bribe ref" on opponent's key drives, like a lead-taking or game-winning drive
- Remember that your dirty tricks come back after the first half for offense and defense
- If you have 1 cornerback left on your roster, play the game in the goal line defense formation.
- Use dirty trick on 3rd/4th down situations, or if in desperation.
- Some Dirty tricks are on a timer.
- Look out for the "bombs away" dirty trick. When playing the AI, you usually get an indication that the ball is a bomb. Usually the ball is kind of floaty and the intented receiver tries to avoid the ball.

Special Teams:
- Many fields have hazards, when kicking, try to kick the ball into or towards a hazard.
- Field goal points are based on distance. If the field goal distance is in the 30s or less, you will get 3 points. If your field goal distance is in the 40s, you will get 4 points. If you get a 50+ field goal, you will get 5 points.
- Getting a defensive TD on a PAT will give you 6 points instead of 2.

Other:
There is a halftime show in the game where you kill zombie refs with a shotgun. If you win, you get a resurrection dirty trick, giving you an option to resurrect a player. From my experience, you need to survive until time runs out and get 500 points. In multiplayer, the one with the most points wins. (can't fully confirm the point requirement, but can confrim the need to survive and earning resurrection dirty trick.)

Increasing the karnage level option will make the AI more agressive after the play, resulting in more late hits.

I might put this in a community guide at some point if I have time, but if someone beats me to it, feel free to use this. Just give me credit.

edit: in one of the updates, the ability to call a timeout during the opponent's QB attack dirty trick has been removed.

How can you bride the ref?
Drakon Oct 30, 2017 @ 9:58am
You use the "bribe ref" dirty trick. It may only availabe with dirty tricks on, due to it being a dirty trick.

I was sure it was like old Time hockey or bush hockey league.

Seems like not then haha.

Thanks for the info.

edit: in my tips it says R1/L1 is for shed block, this has changed a few updates ago to the right stick. Will edit it in the OP.

You should make a guide. The guide is easy to use on Steam.

These tips are really useful, it would really make it easier for me via the guide as it would be easy to access in game xD.

Yeah, I might do that when I have some time. I know I started a draft a while ago, but never finished it. I think I also add things related to reading plays if I do start working on the guide.

Some good tips, I disagree on saving the dirty tricks though. I hammer them right off the bat, can usually score a few touchdowns early, and if you're lucky kill off some of their best players. I would guess it depends on which teams/dirty tricks you're using, but I've found waiting until end of half, 3rd/4th down increases the chance of them expecting/using their own which turns yours useless.

Some Dirty Tricks like Bombs Away are better used Early to take out Great Players of the other Team for a longer Duration.

Example: The opponent has a great Safety and Coverback. If you use Bombs Away at the End of the Half/Game, you had to Play against those Players all the Time and after the End of the Half the opponent might Ressurect them.

Killing them Early means those Players ar at least out for 1 Half, not for a Minute.

Dirty Tricks like berserk or Shotgun ar best used when the opposing Team has some Players low on Health and use those Plays towards the Best Players on the Other Team, killing them in the Process, not Avoiding them like on Normal Plays.

It's been ages since I've seen this thread. Some things have changed since then. I gotta admit, I'm suprised that most of my post still holds up. But when it comes to dirty trick usage, it's very context heavy depending on the dirty trick, down, and overall game impact - especially with some newer dirty tricks.

Quick tip for an easy Kill stat in dynasty mode. *if you turn the kills down a bit due to not wanting to pay to revive half your team every game*

-Have QB Attack dirty trick
-BEFORE using that use the bribe ref trick
-next play use ATTACK QB
-Kill QB, No penalty=You get a kill. *if you get a penalty for the kill, they still dead but it dont count on your statsheet* :tri_edge:
Want to build up your kick returner quickly? Allow your kicker to die (the buzzsaw in the Purple Eaters stadium is quick) and never revive him. Your returner will now do double duty as a kicker and thereby gain XP that much faster.
