These are both incorrect. The British Empire Power Bloc has neither the Trade League identity, nor the Market Unification III principle. As such, joining their Power Bloc alone does not put you into a Customs Union. By default, only the Prussian Zollverein Power Bloc enables a Customs Union, as it has the Trade League identity.

Britain may force you into being their Protectorate by using their Sovereign Empire identity's special ability to force subject status on a Power Bloc member, but there is no guarantee they will do so. Regardless, becoming Britain's subject does not require joining their Power Bloc, it is simply one way to potentially achieve that goal.
