Dutch East Indies' Subjects Advice

Hi there,

I'm currently on a Netherlands run, and I am facing a Pontiniak revolt against my subject Dutch East Indies that is supported by a rival great power. I am unable to join this diplomatic play because of the fail condition "Pontiniak is NOT an indirect subject of the Netherlands".

The wording of this tooltip is a bit confusing, but I am interpreting it to mean that I am unable to join the diplomatic play against Pontiniak because they are my indirect subject. If this is the case, I find it odd that a rival GP can join the play to help the revolt, but I am unable to protect my subject.

Following on from this, is there a way to cause a subject Dutch East Indies to annex their minor subjects while playing as the Netherlands?

I believe if the GP doesn't add any war goal on your subject directly you can't join in no. The Dutch East Indies will try to annex puppets during the game.
