Would a hoi4 player enjoy this?
HI, I have been looking at this game for a while and noticed it was on sale. I am a big fan of HOI4, how similar is this game to it?
Many thanks!

this game seens cool, but is totally other thing, probably hoi4 is other thing, and eu4 other thing too

Victoria 3 got nothing in common with Hearts of Iron 4.

Most likely not, because you probably want a lot of wargame. In Victoria this is one of the weakest parts.
But, if you are ready to detatch yourself from that wish and play some eco game, then you might like it.

The combat in this game is actively terrible, but the economy aspect is interesting. So it depends on how you feel about that.

No, but I'm a hoi4 player and enjoy both games for different reasons. If you have not played anything remotely economy focused in the past then it's a hard no.

Just try it.

You might like it but it's not really similar.

I don't think so, this game is too economy-focused. It feels like a spreadsheet simulator, and most of the time you'll be juggling accounting reports.

If you like building factories in hoi4 you'll love building factories here.

I'm a big fan of HOI4 as well but this game is not really like HOI at all. TBH, most PDS games are very dissimilar from each other so liking one doesn't mean you'd like another. It needs to be said because this is a Steam discussion board so of course there are SOME similarities between them all but I'd say it's not as extreme a change as Stellaris would be for a HOI fan.

If you're in any doubt, try the free weekend and see if it works for you, especially the military aspect which is unique to this title. Otherwise, wait until the Spheres of Influence DLC drops sometime early next year.

Spreadsheet simulators are the best type of game though.

The fact they said it like HoI4 isn't also as a spreadsheet simulator cracks me up, honestly.

As for OP, well, without knowing what you liked about HoI4 it's hard to tell if the answer is a Maybe or an Absolutely Not, honestly. The game should still be free to try for the next 12-ish hours or so if you want to dive in and see for yourself? Just keep in mind that while there are some similarities that I do think a HoI player could find enjoyable depending on what they liked about the HoI series in the first place, Victoria 3 is not HoI4 and it's not meant to be.

I consider myself more of a CK fan but I also enjoy HOI4. I thinks V3 and has it’s fun parts and could possibly hold your attention for awhile.

Yes.

The core mechanics are broken to a level very similar to HoI4. And looking at the facts - year+ after release date, lots of basic stuff remains unfixed - it's going to stay that way.

Wouldn't be a paradox game otherwise!

Depends how much you enjoyed the industrial part of HoI. If you liked optimizing mils, stockpile tracking, etc., you should do rather well moving into resource management and optimizing the market.
