Most boring game ever ?
I started the tutorial mission with sweden, and all you can do is make sure you accumulate some money reserves, spend a bit on construction, and save money again, while dealing with uprisings and commissioning research, so 99.9% of the time you look at the screen and can't do anything useful.
Declaring war is not possible, because one of the big nations ALWAYS comes to the aid of the small ones, so war is more or less an element only for big powerful nations.
So it stays the same, I look at the screen for hours and do practically nothing.
In the game, you can easily set it to the fastest speed and go for a walk for an hour, and when you come back, nothing else has happened.
The typical browser mobile games are more interesting, with their 1-2 hour build times, because you have something to click on more often.

the fact that big nations ALWAYS interfere in wars is a good thing if you play a big power yourself, and to slow down your own expansion, but if you play a small nation, getting bigger is impossible due to this mechanic.

It is very boring ... people say there is depth but tbh the impact on being clueless is so minimal that it does not matter , i tried it for 7 hours this weekend and it is a watch paint dry simulator but most paradox games are very boring if you ask me as they are wide as a ocean with the depth of a puddle due to their greedy DLC policy.

of course not.

bro, it is not a war game

@Leto From what you say, you might actually enjoy Europa Universalis 4 instead. Especially since you mention conquest. I find it incomparably more interesting and satisfying than Sid Meier's Civilization (I've never played a Civ game since). One once you know the game well enough, EU4 is amazing for playing a small underdog nation (even a single-province), leveraging diplomacy & allies to achieve great things and eventually becoming a Great Power of the World. I don't know anything like it.

i have eu4 and yes it's a nice game, lots of options, but the dlc policy is a huge cheek, but i also like hearts of iron 4 and also crusader kings, so i don't understand what went wrong with the game, here you can do practically nothing, and what you do has hardly any effect, you just look at the map, and rummage around in the menus hoping to be able to do something useful.
a game that i can let run for an hour or more and nothing really happens that is decisive for the game is ridiculous.

yes it's not a war game, it's a i look at a world map for hours and do practically nothing game.
looking at a running washing machine is more interesting, there's more going on.

I started out the same. Sweden + tutorial. Played 3.2 hours. I don't think it's quite as bad as stated. There are regular popup events. I did manage to get into a civil war almost immediately due to passing some land law.

I think the main game loop task is balancing an accounting balance sheet with a 10 tab excel spreadsheet with pretty graphics while trying to expand. Need to get reduce cost on shortages by producing more or importing.

Reform government kind of confuses me. Some hidden factor that couldn't figure out that goes into legitimacy.

Ultimately, I found it interesting and kind of boring, then constant background wheel sounds kicked in, which made the game annoying. I liked meeting the tutorial objectives. Without those objectives, not sure i would have the interest to set my own goals or care enough.

I could see buying it at very steep sale. Kind of trying to ignore paradox games due to their habit of breaking their games regularly with DLC.

Why do we have to have 30 different threads about how boring the game is on the same day ? Is your opinion really so unique?

Some people do find driving a car boring, others love it. So what? Go play something else.

Maybe it's because somebody (steam? paradox?) applies censorship to this forum, removing posts with "inappropriate" information about game's quality?

The game is boring for you? What a pity. Now what? Don't play it, done. No need to spread this kind of senseless opinion in the discussion section of the game, it's clearly an absolute subjective topic.

It didnt used to be this bad. You could snowball at the start as almost any nation.

Then paradox balanced things for only major nations, you need hundreds of everything. to get anything done and only majors can build things without breaking their nation.

Since you cant snowball, you cant keep up majors. If you cant do that, you cant go to war or do plays.

They killed what little fun there was.

I do agree on that statement, with a close second being Imperator: Rome. On one side i have the construction queue, and on the other i have the laws i want to pass. Everything else is meaningless filler. I mean, playing as a nation with a smaller budget and population (Sweden), you dont have the means to really build much at the start, granted. But trying to keep up with larger nations (who has larger economies and populations) are slim to non existant, you cant built enough and the economy stagnates because of it.

The free weekend and it's consequences have been a disaster for Victoria 3's steam forums

Free weekend. People share common opinions. I mean, reviews are mixed. Were negative, my personal review is negative. I played it a lot this weekend, and it is WAY better than it was at launch, but it is still pretty boring, but i was in the mood for a mindless slow game this weekend and it was not terrible. Maybe in another 6 months or a year there will be a bit more substance to it all.

I did the same thing during the free weekend, started as Sweden, partly coz I am Swedish and omg I was so bored my hair turned grey. I played vicky 1 to death as a boy and liked vicky 2 as well but this is so booooring. Its good but boring in the same sense that a math test might be good as a test but that does not make it fun. A toilet might be a good toilet but that doesnt make it a fun toilet. Call me old school I play games because its fun. This might be a good ecosim but it is not fun.
