Heavenly Kingdom makes no sense
Im am playing Qing at the moment and am totally confused about the heavenly kingdom even chain, and wanted to hear some thoughts from the community.
So basically I had a pretty good run as Qing, including winning opium war, getting recognized, being number 1 GP and fast industrialization with SOL of 13.
My problem started when the Boxer-rebellion triggered, wich I wanted to complete successfully in order to complete fragile unity. To win boxer, I had to take macao, wich wasn't a problem, Portugal simply gave it to me. But after i took Macao, i had aroung 1k protestant pops, so the heavenly kingdom JE started. I had already read the trigger conditions, so I had avoided it until this point. Now it will take probably 1 or 2 years untill four states have the God Worshipping Society and the Taiping Rebellion will fire.
I can't see anything what i could have done to prevent the heavenly kingdom, except from the following (not viable options):
-passing total seperation (which just isn't possible as QIng because of the IG-Ideologies)
-setting taxes to very low to minimize radicals and halt the JE progress
-not taking macao (wich would result in failing boxer)

I understand that the Taiping Rebellion is an important part of qing history, so i like that it is in the game. It just feels that you can't control it by any means (including preventing the historical reasons) and if it fires it takes over 75% of the country and ends your game.
Am I missing something?

Are you sure, that it will be so inevitable in your case? In my runs, even if it started spreading, there were still hard conditions, before actual split of the country came. Unless they changed something.
After checking files I see, that I avoided missionaries or minimized them, so I didn't have taiping spread start. So yeah, if you have it already started and don't have very low turmoil the only solution I see is to savescum the event every month to not happen. It has a 1/6 probability, so it won't be hard.

Thanks for the input. How do i minimize/avoid missionaries? From my understanding you would have to take back all treaty ports and click the desicion. But wouldn't you trigger the Taiping as soon as you would take the port?
If your date is below 1856, then Taiping needs 5 missionary states, if below 1846, then it doesn't start at all. IIRC, I dealt with it before 1856, sometimes even before 1846, if GBR doesn't protect POR - you can extort even w/o war in that case.
It's heavily RNG-based, just like Emperor Norton.
I get that this one's the actual historical event, but it was probably made that way because it gets memed so hard, like Emperor Norton, for whom I put so much effort into enacting monarchy just for him to not be crowned emperor
wait until they drop the 100th dlc then will the game become playble when they release victoria 4
