No vic 3 still crashes constantly with win 11 24h2. Also I recommend "Winaero Tweaker" to disable and revert some changes in windows 11

That tool doesn't seem to fix the underlying issue, it is some fundamental problem.
I'm quite certain that it's windows fault. 24h2 literally make my PC slow down and regulary hiccup. Even right clicking on windows taskbar have a significant delay.
luckily I was able t troll back to 23

Win 11 is just a thinly veiled surveilance tool, at your expense. My friend did upgrade as well, and it caused an FPS drop in several games, especially Skyrim. Vic3 wouldn't run as well. So I installed a dual-boot linux on his PC, and now he can continue playing it.

You need to either roll back that latest patch, go back to Win10 (although I'd pick Win7), or switch to linux. 11 seems to be one of "those" windows versions, like ME or Vista, so its not going to get better.

Ever since the introduction of Aero, the windows UI became a resource-hungry, buggy, distracting mess. At least in previous versions, you could scale it down, but that's pretty impossible right now. And don't even get me started on all the crap behind that shiny veneer, it's constanty spying on you and is using all your inputs to train their AI model. I have absolutely no hope that this version is ever going to be at least "acceptable".

Therefore, either go back to win7 (which was the best out of the recent ones), or switch to linux (where you can pick your UI).

i had strangely positive results by using the DDU to uninstall all my video drivers... then just... not reinstall them... just let windows updates install it's generic video drivers... and... tbh... after llike 2 months of troubleshooting - i can finally play again.

of course the trick would be to 'disregard 20 years of pc experience' and not install drivers

Nope. That's not how it works, since XP, I think. If you remove drivers, then it will either install a backup, or it will download drivers from microsoft's repository. Guess what's in there? Some older version, most likely from the chip's manufacturer. And it just so happens that many people reported positive results after downgrading their drivers.

i had removed all backups and drivers in my system involving invidia with a 3rd party tool. hoping windows update gave me a compatible driver. it seems to have worked in my favor...it seems like if i hadnt called the driver generic, or if you were familiar with the DDU tool- which wipes all drivers and backups, you wouldn't have said anything>

manually downgrading my drivers from the nvidia site did not work for me, this did.

i feel like i'm being told that i'm wrong for finding a solution that works on my desktop ... which is goofy to me.

I'm glad that it worked for you, but it was mostly luck, and not really a solution. I have really no idea if that can be replicated.

And yes, I know that DDU tool.

anecdotally it worked on both of my nvidia gpu desktops, and nvidia gpu laptop, but you're right- i suppose. I just think it's worth a try for

I should have made it more clear, it's not to fix the problem with the game. I put it there because they said they hate windows 11 UI and it allows you to revert it among other things
