Computer Freezing

So since the newest patch the game will periodically freeze my PC - the sound starts to sound static-y and then nothing works, not even force quitting or pulling up the control panel - I am forced to power down my computer. Anyone know if this is a known bug? It has never happened until a couple days ago. And since its not actually crashing, there's no log to examine.

Do you have a newer nvidia video card? Check if it overheats. There seems to be a bug, where the game tries to fry your nvidia GPU by overloading it.

There is a PC freeze related to Win11 24H2 update, do you have that installed? If so rolling back to 23H2 should solve the problem.

I have freeze without that update. Now I will update 24h2. I don't think its related. Most likely specific to Victoria 3. The reason its most likely Vicky 3 is because I've never had that much problem with Clausewitz Engine games, just Vicky 3 since launch.

same. even uploading previous "beta" versions freezes the game in the loading screen now, eventually crashing my mac.

So based on the know issues for 1.8 list. The run steam on admin seems to work for me.

Some players are experiencing a crash to desktop on the game launch, related to users with utf-8 characters in their account name and/or path where the game try to write - we are currently investigating this issue. In the meantime, try to launch Steam in Administrator Mode as a temporary workaround."

It's not crashing on launch but after a few in game years - I have no clue why but it only seems to happen when playing in South America, when I switched to Europe and Japan the issue stopped???

Even though it says at launch, I was freezing during gameplay. I'm not sure why but running steam on Admin mode solves my problem.
