The Matter of Slavery
Has anyone managed to complete this as Brazil? I'm finding it impossible. I can't industrialized in time, specially if I put the landowners in the government if I want to pass any law.

Enforcing the ban just.makes them hate me and I end up with so many radicals. And on top of that, there is always a civil war threatening.

I recently did it, no problem. Selectively enforced the ban, then legacy slavery, then ( a good while later) a full ban via Golden Law. You should be able to industrialize pretty quickly -- you've got the people, cash, and resources, so maybe make education a priority to help people get new jobs. Also suppress/bolster the appropriate movements.

What does "in time" mean? is that 5 10 50 years?
I'm not an expert but while it was simple and quick, it wasn't very difficult(maybe got lucky?)
Got a party of industrialists, army, and intelligentsia which was able to usually win elections (or at least get slightly over 50% of the vote) against a conservative party of the landowners/church/petite burglarises 3 times in a row before I was able to get banned through (after first doing legacy).
I did roll an abolitionist on the industrialists (normally I don't think they care) so that helped chances a bit, but it did take around 5-8 years of trying to pass the law)
I didn't use any of the journal buttons for slavery, they didn't seem worth the bother.

I not sure if this helped or not, but I changed to Landed(instead of wealth) voting early, with the thought that this would weaken the land owners at the start(and they liked the law).
It does give aristocrats 50 vote power(double that of capitalists, clergy, and officers who also get to vote), but at the start of the game almost the only people who have the 25+ wealth to get a vote in wealth voting... are aristocrats(at least in Brazil)

I figured this might weaken the land owners a bit, while giving some more power to the church and military and industry.

Now that I have land owners with no slaves and around 8% clout, I could probably switch to wealth and get even better results.

Passing the legacy law is still Random as with all laws and even if you suppress and boost the law system just seem like it is down right broken.

I had written a rant complaining about journal entries that are just a pain to balance on top of the lobbying system throwing your landwoners out of whack and the Peru-Bolivia confederation. I'm gonna change my strategy.

So, the way I keep the landowners and Matter of Slavery is by keeping the landowners out of the government, and making steps into banning slavery without pissing them off too much. This was working.

I'm gonna declare war to liberate Bolivia's subjects and break the confederation early. I'm also going not try to appease and improve relations with the British, and instead cater to the anti-british league and use that to keep the landowners happy while I sap their power base with laws.

I don't locally enforce the ban on slavery because that tends to make the landowners too angry and I end up failing because of the revolt. I don't know if I can say I have the cash because I'm constatly running after bureaucracy to mitigate the damage it does on my taxation.

Honestly, suppressing movements does't really seem to make a difference (I do it anyway).
