Vicky 3 may have fried my video card...
So I had an admittedly older nvidea gtx, dont remember the number, but I was playing a rapidly industrializing mid game China, and as i swapped to a new production after unlocking the Monitor tech, my tower instantly powered off as if the power had been unplugged.
After troubleshooting i eventually realized the video card was what was ♥♥♥♥♥♥, so I replaced it with one a friend let me have.
No huge loss, but im still not gonna play Vicky for a while... not until they have some serious optimization...

The game is CPU heavy. Especially in late game. That's why there's a lot of performance issues in late game that got patched for 1.06. I imagine your PSU is just good enough for your computer, and your CPU attempted to keep up and for some reason just asked for too much and your PC shutdown. The GPU might have been a number of things, but if it ran hot for memory (which it likely will) but your GTX is was a 10 series, it might have been the 0RPM fan setting that killed your card. They didn't have good temp sensor and fan control to really keep the memory cool, and if you play this game on the higher graphic settings at 1080p, you could probably have good performance, just you're cooking your video memory in doing so.

Knowing what GPU exactly it was is pretty important though. Without knowing more details of your rig, it'd be tough to know really what went wrong.

Rimworld broke 2 HDDs of mine years ago. Each time when the game was about to save or load. I think it was something to do with the way it handled in-game music.

You can limit the FPS in settings. 30 or 60 is usually fine if you spend a lot of time in menus. No need to try to get 120 or 200 fps for a grand strategy game.

Yea, no need to be running the game over 60 FPS. I did notice that it brought my GPU temp down from 71C to 61-63C. I have a 3060 Gaming OC and I turned fans on for temps above 40C instead of the normal, and slightly turned up the RPM a bit for the 60-80C.

Usually the fan profile can be configured to be more aggressive with cooling down the video card as well. Did you overclock the card?

What you describe is a power or heat issue. The game didn't fry your hardware. Monitor heat and if it looks good, then your PSU could be going bad.

Yea I have an OC option setup in Afterburner, also how I adjusted my fancurve. But I don't always use the OC option. Only when I push for more consistent and higher FPS and a game like Vic3 isn't one of those games. 4k, highest graphic settings, I'm really stable around 55FPS.
