that would depend on your definition of over-powered.

Not a bug. They just made China super strong and didn't bother putting any constraints on them what so ever.

Too strong in what way? Like, yeah, they got a lot of people and land, so they end up with a high GDP, but their military is the absolute pits, so they can be easily bullied into "sharing".

a modern army with a good general will destroy their massive army. Took a huge chuck of their land as Brazil in the early-mid game. The only problem are naval invasions, you need a huge fleet and if you use conscripts your army might be stuck at 99% mobilization a long while. You cant naval invade when your army is mobilizing. But once you have a foothold in china, its a piece of cake.

There was a great system in Victoria II where you needed to become civilized to have a decent military ect. This kind feature is sadly gone (at least for now)
So China is just as every other contry, what makes them a superpower

China starts off just as behind militarily in Vic 3 as it did in Victoria 2. I swear people never actually played unwesternized nations in Victoria 2. It didn't actually give you different units or tech trees. China in Victoria 2: Starts off with irregulars for infantry and no cannon. And you don't need to westernize to unlock them, you literally just need to pass a single reform for each of them (which unlocks the corresponding tech in the usual tech tree everyone gets access to), and then bam you can build line infantry and artillery. In Victoria 3, similar deal. Start as China and check their barracks. All irregular infantry, no cannons. What does the UK start with? Skirmish infantry and mobile artillery. And as expected, I've yet to see them lose to China in the Opium War.

Same system is in Vic3 its just incorporated into the regular progression rather than a grafted on after the fact system.

Using a navy is the best way to beat china, especially if your cheezy like me and realized how easy it is to get a foothold. Take Portugal's port, they wont even do anything about it.

Build ports, now invade from there, when china stacks its doom stack against you, navy invade bejing and watch the land fall.

How China is too strong? They don't have a navy, they have a weak economy and their army is outdated...

China? You mean the place I make a withdrawal out of every time I need more factory workers, Tea and Dye?

Yeah no, Maybe when played by a human, but AI china is basically just free real estate

Qing start off weak, this is when you capitalise. The longer it goes on, their tech will start catching up. But they are by no means overpowered.
lordcrekit Nov 12, 2022 @ 9:52pm
They aren't overpowered at all. If you play as them sure of course, you can fix their problems. But the AI cannot handle it at all and they become cannon fodder for other nations.
