32GB of RAM with those other components? If this is a pre-built PC, then you'd need to kick them in the balls.

Try the following:
1. Purge the shader cache.
2. Not working? Disable steam's pre-built shaders, purge the shader cache, then let the game compile its own.
Alternatively:
1. Update the video card driver.
2. No luck? Go back at least two versions, and try again.

Unfortunately, you're not the only one with this issue, I guess that paradox will release a hotfix soon enough.

Since the update mine started using about 90% GPU, on a 3070, not sure why, CPU only about 18%

Update your drivers to the newest version, or go back at least two.

I have the same issue including the fact that I have 32GB of RAM and it is custom (its only vic3)

So, have you tried the driver solution?

And nowadays, 32GB is barely enough to run Chrome...

weird, game runs fine on my 16gb laptop with half a dozen other apps open, like opera, discord after yesterday's update, ... but u know, you need 32gb or whatever.

i was having repeated crashes in vic3 across multiple computers since the dlc, it wasnt until the game and nvidia patches were pushed yesterday morning that ive been able to play again. PDX troubleshooting support couldnt find any issues with my systems either. the issue is on their end in a lot of these crash reports

The root of the problem lies inbetween the newest patch and the newest nvidia drivers. Older versions, or older cards aren't affected.

They wouldn't be able to find their own posterior, if it wasn't screwed on.

Latest Driver did nothing, this patch is still trying to fry my GPU. The only other game that did this was strangely another Paradox game, City Skylines 2 when it launched.

Try purging the shader cache, if it doesn't work, go back at least two video driver versions.

-edit-
And by driver versions, I mean the numbers before the period, not after. So instead of, let's say the current "game-ready" 566.36 version, try the "Studio" 561.09 build.

I too got all DLC and updated to the latest version of the game. Every less than 10 minutes it crashed unexpected.

Try re-verify the game. Then log out Paradox account on the main menu. Been play for more than 1 hour, it seems work for me so far. I think this was the cause.

I experienced the same: high GPU temperature and, CTD-. I have never seen this before in this game. Today I had installed the last driver, so this is not the problem.

Well, the game tries to eat my new laptop the moment the game begins. 100% CPU usage and then complete laptop shutdown, not even a crash(so something is very broken). I've tried quite a few games now, and this is the only one doing that. That's i-7 14650hx and 4070m +32gb ram.

Tried limiting cores dedicated to the game. Now it doesn't cause shutdown at least but loads them to 100% and the game runs in 5fps with insane freezes.
Any answers yet? Just did some upgrades even got some new fans to help with temperature control and it still crashes my PC
