Creating italy in 1.8

Hey guys, anyone know how to do the unification of itally in 1.8? I've been 4 hours triyng
with sardinia and piedmont but it will always switch to other italian country when getting the risorgimento "quest" and then i'm always in debt..

It used to be, build relations and trade agreement with all the other Italian minors and wait for them to research nationalism. They should switch to you

Probably the easiest way to form italy is to get high radicals and annexation event, better doing it with two sicily given their initial laws.
Alternatively with piedmont get nationalism, increase your gdp, get colonies/subjects, build relations with the other italian countries: trade agreements, investmet rights, defensive pacts, if you are lucky, with the San Marco seccesion most of the unification supporters change attitude towards Austria.
At a certain point you should be a major power and unification candidate, either form italy first, or get a trade league power block (the other minors should get annex eventually) and then form Italy.
Ps. I suggest you to liberate Lombardy and Venice if the succession has not happend or has failed (most likely)

You need the most Prestige of all Italian Countrys. When the other Nations are in a very good relation with you and ure the candidate you can just click on the creating Italy button and all other countrys are now yours.

I testet it a few times and the easiest way was while playing Two Sicily - dont focus so much on a good economy. I focused just on building 20-30 Ships + 5-10 Armys to push my prestige and gave my Army the highest salary. I dont know how long it took, but i think it took me 5-10 Years In game Time

thx guys, but now i have another problem, idk why i'am not an unification candidate, i am the 7 and major power too, i have two sicily puppetted too thx to the event of unification (i have not integrated them because if so, i will be switched to another country for the radicals in my territory)

I'm confused, are you playing with piedmont or two sicilies?
Which event you got? "Unification with [Italian Unifier]" or "Italian Nationalists Seize [Coup capital city]"?

With Sardinia, anyway i have the first, but if i do the unification with two sicily, i get all the radicals and then they size my capital city and then switch to another italian country

Ok, credo di aver capito: mantieni pure le due Sicilie come puppet o eventualmente dominion continua a migliorare le relazioni con gli altri stati italiani. Se sei major power e non compare ancora "unification leader" è perché non tutti gli stati IT hanno sbloccato il nazionalismo, una volta soddisfatto questo requisito sarà possibile sia unificare, che lanciare la "unification play".

yeah unfortunately this is a very bad part of the game and requires cheese to do
I just launched a unification play as sardinia, the ONLY candidate, everyone agreed to join me except moderna and luca, because of this, the only way to do it was through war because of Austria, this, even though the ONLY COUNTRIES WHO JOINED ME AGREED TO DO SO WILLINGLY AND DID NOT HAVE HIGH UNREST, forced my government into a democracy and honestly they suck, even though I had voting previously established and wasnt an absolute monarchy

Its very broken, it used to be better, but now it just sucks.

and the worst part is the only ones offering advice on this only played Italy years ago or something because they act as if we're idiots or people who are new to the game when most of us have been here from the start, they just act like nothings wrong with the Italian unification system.

honestly just give france that land and make them help you get the italian provinces austria has. that should be enough strenght to unify either by force or by diplo

Si infatti adesso riesco a fare la unificazione, mi manca solo parma che si ostina a non voler essere unita lol, grazie cmq!

Yea, it is a problem that they must fix, i dunno if for germany is like that too

No, unfortunately they don't have any problems with their unification war, the reason it happens is actually a very simple fix, Riosorgimento should just be paused while a unification war is ongoing and for a year after the war is over to give you time to actually hit the unify button
"Risorgimento" doesnt go away while you're in your unification war, so because unrest gets high from all the reasons that war brings, you get overthrown.
If you do the historical thing and annex Lombardy from Austria, you get overthrown.
If you lose men in a war, you get overthrown.

Just tried it again, and sicily got overthrown by rebels and I got the event to annex them, guess what? over 2m rebels, instant 45/25 on risorgimento, instant revolution.
You cant peacefully unify because now, since this stupid Indian update, Tuscany and Luca always hate you, every run.
As far as I can tell, you only have ONE chance to peacefully unify and it requires you burning your economy early on and getting your army big enough to make a difference in the Prussian-Austrian war, when it happens, demand that Lombardy/Venice get liberated as an independent state, then, maintain good relations with them and pray that they support you in the unification event.

Its stupid.

You can but these contribute to the risorg, only annex the really small ones.
