Ottomans to easy now?
I have seen a lot of fuzz about ottomans being impossible to play now, regarding their foreign affairs: Russia is very aggressive and Egypt not conquerable due to international involvement. I have had no issues with both on rough AI now with 1.7.3 released. However YMMV.

The reason I think they are to easy now is due to internal affairs: Starting out now, you have a liberal party in charge with a liberal Sultan on top. Changing politics used to be such a hustle with the strong land owners in charge, which had me seriously considering going conservative theocracy each time. But now with 20%+ liberals in charge who are backed by the ruler, changing domestic politics seems just a breeze. (20% liberals off the bat seems whack btw, cause it makes the ottomans one of the most progressive starting powers! Not in policies passed, but in terms of party support. That can't be right, can it?).

Never played them but I know the AI is doing better with them and doing more stuff, well till France or England kick their teeth in lol. Guess thats a + for historical accuracy.

Only briefly played them and not in recent updates.

The problem I ran into is that the game gives you all of 5 minutes to conquer Egypt, which starts out stronger than you while you have a completely dysfunctional economy and terrible political system.
Fail to rush conquering Egypt with that and you get a massive penalty

no idea how it is on 1.7, but before it was too easy

That is no longer the case. The ottoman army has a slight edge over egypt (provided you upgraded your irregulars to line infantry till 1840). You just have a very high chance that egypt is joined by another major power which you need to be prepared for by being able to field another maior power yourself.

You still have to work the 4 tanzimat reforms within the first years to get rid off your debuffs. But before it was really tough passing legislation, because the landowners were against just anything. Now with the progressives it just goes ridiculously easy. And I am wondering if that change was made as a community suggestion (I do not like it) or if this was done to historic evidence.

I see why people would want this setup for barreling the ottomans out of the middle ages, but it totally takes away the appeal of going conservative.

So @Paradox: if this wasn't done for historical accuracy but is a pure game mechanic decision, I would very much appreciate if there is a way (overthrow the Sultan with his brother or whatever) to bring the more restricted starting conditions back, with landowners and religious groups in charge.
