How do you get recognized as a major power as Japan?

I cant figure this one out. Im rank 12 now but im still an unrecognized major power ...

I've read that you can add a wargoal against another major power or something to get recognized but i cant find such wargoal ...

You gotta make a recognize as a major diplomatic play against any of the other major powers in the game. and win the usual war that goes with it.

I must be blind then or just stupid or both ... i cant figure out how to do that

Incorrect it was removed in 1.7, you need to complete a new journal entry, enforcing a war goal on a recognized power still gives a lot of progress towards it as does a new embassy action with GPs, but you also need some good stats/laws to not regress, all details are in the journal entry

Right, now i get it, you have to hover over the "advance" text in the journal to see what actually advances it

ah ok i didnt know that. I havent played in a long time after all.

As I remember it, in my run Japan got recognised basically by raising it's economic status (i.e. GDP and SoL). Didn't seem to need a war or anything. Once I'd got SoL into about the top 20 or so, and GDP in top 5, recognition just seemed to happen. I think there was an event, but no war.

Focus on getting to zero peasants. You can do this quickest with Rural buildings.

Yeah im spamming rice fields and other farms and ive implemented social security, workplace safety and health system, increased wages and lowered taxes. My economy seems to be ok with all of this so hope that will do it.
