Force Privatization and Laissez Faire.
I noticed when I started the game (Brazil with Agrarianism, If I recall) I could "Privatize" buildings that I owned (the government). I equated that to simply putting it up for sale to private investors.
I have since adopted Laissez Faire and now all the Privatize buttons are grey and Privatization is not available. In the Laissez Faire description, is has a red "X" with Force Privatization.
I guess in reality, when you privatize, you are "forcing" someone to buy it? And, with Laissez Faire, you can't do that?
But, it seems like, the whole concept of Laissez Faire is that the government stays out of private business so they should be encouraged to sell non-government buildings when they adopt Laissez Faire. Of course, they would force anyone but determine a fair price based on productivity, etc.
Am I misunderstanding?

All the buildings are forced to be privatized automatically if you have laissez faire. Anything you had nationalized is automatically added to the queue to be privatized when you change to it. Anything new you build is automatically added to the queue to be privatized, except buildings that do not allow privatization (buildings in the development tab).

Ok. I think I understand now. I do have about 100 or so non gov buildings that I own but I guess it takes time for them to "buy" them from the government.
That's why I see a "Investment pool transfer" on my budget.
That must be them buying my buildings?

Yes, that's right. They buy them when they can afford them and it transfers money from the investment pool to you. Also, they reimburse you for the costs of construction materials they are using to build in private construction. They don't pay for the construction materials used in government construction except to the extent that they transfer money to you when they purchase the buildings that are privatized.
