Game crashing right after i start playing

Every time I start playing the game after a few minuets it crashes. Ive tried reinstaling and verifiing files nothing fixes it.

does it only happen after going into the nation select menu? i'm having the same issue if that's the problem.

no im able to play the game for a bit but then it crashes. It was like that for a bit but I kept on reinstalling and deleting all my vic 3 files. Then I also deleted my saved games and I think thats what fixed my problem with getting past nation select thing.

There seems to be a memory-leak problem. I’ve been trying to make the game work since patch day. I think we’re gonna have to wait for a hotfix :/

Lol yeah, there’s a few older threads on this subject. Folks who previously ran the game fine now max out their ram and end up crashing. A dev popped in and said a hotfix is on the way, and they’re looking into it. So fingers crossed I guess.

I don't know a lot about this ♥♥♥♥ but any idea how long it will take? Or anyway I can play the game now maybe playing an older version?

You can right click the game in your steam library, go to properties. Select “betas” and use an older version.

For me, I’m trying to play with the new DLC I purchased, so rolling back won’t work.

As for a time table, last major patch they hotfixed the next day. Being that it’s already 2 days after patch, I’d hope really soon. The dev I mentioned only gave “This week and next week”

Yea i'm trying to play the france dlc I just bought because of the sale should I just use the one right before this patch or whatever?

Same issue So i can choose a country get to the play map then it crashes. I did the right click on victoria 3 in steam library then rolled back to irish breakfast beta and i can play buuuuutt i did spend a bunch of money to play the new expansion guess ill just wait

Playing on irish breakfast and it still crashes quite a bit. wtf is wrong with this game?

If you are using an ASUS motherboard uninstall armory crate. Victoria 3 had an identical issue for me crashing before I could even select a country and start the game despite having an i9 and 4090. An AC process was crashing intel's .net framework

Aside from waiting for the next hotfix that could help with this I would suggest trying some of these fixes:
- Updating your graphic drivers
- Deleting your shader/terrain cache then starting the game to rebuild them via: Navigating to Documents\Paradox Interactive\Victoria 3\.
Delete the shadercache and terraincache folders if they exist.
- Ensuirng you aren't using outdated mods.

Otherwise, you can try talking to tech support[forum.paradoxplaza.com] and they are better placed to help you out with a potential solution.
