Liberty desire
How do I decrease the liberty desire of a puppet? Playing as Span and Philippines want increased autonomy almost immediately. When I use the overlord action, they only work for a couple of weeks.

keep your infamy low and keep improving relations. just hover over the bar in diplomacy subjects tab to see all the factors contributing.

it's not in diplomacy with a country interaction, but the general tab you have listed vertically on the left, and subjects is one of the tabs there.

The breakdown for it is in the diplomacy tab. It seems that one of the biggest contributors is infamy. So expansion through vassal play got a massive nerf this patch. It probably will be better to just conquer states and ignore the new mechanics unless you want to play tall. Foreign investment at least allows you to directly build in nations you have agreements with, so making friends seems to at least have some utility besides eating up your influence.

I think economic dependent is a big contributor, not sure how much leverage (building in them) effects things

This aspect of the update makes absolutely no sense to me, and sort of makes subjects pointless. Maybe that was their intention. In any case, it just ends up looking silly, IMO. We can't annex them; they don't want to be annexed! Guess we'll just hang it up.
