For a disturbingly large percentage of the population, McDonald's has become expensive. What used to be the budget meal has become a luxury.
More on topic, Paradox DLC has become rather lackluster for the price. Look no further than Steam reviews of the DLC. They tend to be mixed if not worse.
In regards to Victoria 3, the DLC and updates never really fixed the core issues with the game.
