"you cant occupy a surrendering country!" paradox says to me
"but what if i occupy every single state they own except their one single arbitrary surrender state?" i reply, watching france's population structure collapse.

random victoria 3 rant (another one)

why cant i occupy a country until i decide their lands or my country are sufficiently plundered/exhausted? victoria 2 had practical limits, you would have active war exhaustion modifiers and stuff that would hurt your ability to fight and your economy to a proportional degree as the number was high. reasonable for the limitations of the game. devastation is a spectacular addition to this game and i think it work rather well in it's current state, except it doesnt cause refugee crises when devastation is high enough. just genocide. but why A. does my country arbitrarily capitulate in war when the war exhaustion number gets too high instead of just pressuring my economy and fighting ability, and/or standard of living to cause a revolt; and B. does an opposing country arbitrarily end the war by capitulating and giving me my wargoals? what if war WAS the goal? why can i not just prolong wars as long as i choose like in victoria 2, but with a substantial cost? make interest groups campaign against a war in an election if it goes on for too long, or make other countries pressure us to make peace diplomatically - or otherwise. if you cause too much devastation in a country to the point where they start losing substantial population, make ur infamy very slowly increase over time so eventually you'll have to make peace or go over ur infamy limit (like 0.1 per month). furthermore, make devastation cause a loss to standard of living and pressure the country being devastated to capitulate.

also kinda silly that you cant ask your allies/trade partners to perform diplomatic actions against other countries for favors or in return for actions. i.e asking france+russia to embargo prussia as the uk to cut them off from european trade.

im so happy paradox is fixing the lack of a foreign investment system in this game. and whatever other base game feature we're gonna have to buy in 1.7 that wont work until 2026 and then probably wont be fun until 7 more DLC overhauls make it work kinda sorta if you squint (looking at u eu4 and victoria 2).

why on this ♥♥♥♥ ass video game can i not block trade of individual sectors with countries. i dont wanna embargo great britain, i want them to stop taking my ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ paper, and tariffs wont do it.

another fun feature paradox should code in is zeplin bombers and city bombing mechanics and tac bombing orders for planes. not bc it'll be particularly useful in vic3 bc yea sure it was kinda used in tripolitania and during ww1 but end game vic3 is too slow to be entertaining unless ur a great power, but because the cold war mod will be cool asf with airplanes we can actually use to bomb ♥♥♥♥, and it could provide a template for modders to create extended timeline mods for ww2 and nukes, which we'd need strat bombers for.

also if we cant seize assets from a foreign country we're at war with im gonna r i o t

but also if i wanna seize like a couple expensive factories to punish them for a couple years but not completely cut off their investment, i should be able to do that. dont let this be another embargo situation where theres an embargo button and no "exempt sector" button.

yeah, city bombing would be fine. for now, I settle for uboat blockade

late game it's my favorite thing to fight countries that want to cut me down to size. assuming there is no direct land border, just surrender the enemy country with convoy raiding fleets and watch. it won't be listed in war costs, that only takes into account prices of weapons and wages, but you can observe the prices of goods go up in their internal market, and also radicals increasing

really, for not having direct border, you can mobilize only 10% of your forces and just choke them with your fleets. but they are going to mobilize 70-100% of their forces, and choke from that too. and currently, while they have a war ongoing, they can't stop other wars so you can just be chilling and waiting until your infamy score goes down as all the superpowers united against you slowly die.

I really like watching prices go up for my enemies in this game.

my favorite strategy is just submarine spam tbh. mostly because it allows me to bankrupt a country so easily lmao
