In short, erode the power of Interest Groups who support it, and bolster the clout of those who support alternatives.

Look at the laws giving clout to Slavery supporters and change them, preferably in a way that doesn't upset them too much. Constantly working on your Standard of Living helps a lot with this, you can build approval of all IGs over time and if you do it well, IGs will be a much easier beast to tame.

Something I don't see mentioned a lot is to beware of the pop types in your capital state. If you don't want landowners to have power, try not to build too many farms there :P

sooner or later some movement will form to abolish it and if you then pass the law, you are done. But prepare to fight those who want to keep it though. It's the same for all slavers in the game, btw.

A lot of it is weakening the landowners, who are mostly supported by the Aristocrats.

One major way to destroy landowner clout is to pass homesteading, since it removes the +25% landowner political power modifier and replaces it with +25% farmer. More importantly though is it changes the agriculture and subsistence building ownership which replaces some of the aristocrat jobs with farmer jobs
.
With Aristocrats being more likely to be in the landowner IG, vs farmers who are more likely to be in the rural IG with a couple supporting the landowners.

This is the quickest way. Piss the UK or France off and they will declare war on you to ban slavery eventually.

You don't even have to make them mad. In my Afghanistan game, Britain was protective of me. Open the game by doing corn laws, and day 1 war on Kalat. Second that war ends, war with Makran. Second that war ended, war with SIngh. The war with Sindh they joined 100% of the itme for banning slavery. Annex sindh, instant capitulate to UK.

If you don't wanna cheese it well sadly.... I think its already been explained. Besides trying to dig for an agitator.

That is corn laws. Landowners need to be powerful and in government and then change corn import laws to favor exports. Over time, one event will fire where you can replace your landowner leader. That one will be a market liberal.

Do i need to keep corn laws on to get this market liberal or just complete the objective and switch back?

Keep in mind they made corn laws cheese harder to trigger. Since it use to be pre 1.3 just setting encourage exports on grain. Which gave you a new IG leader that was a market liberal.

After 1.3 it requires grain to be at +25% base cost, prioritized tariffs on grain and landlords powerful and in government. It also according to the patch notes in 1.3 gives a Market Liberal Landowner Agitator rather than an IG leader.
