How can I remove colonies?

I started colonizing a lot of diffrent small Islands in Oceania. However, I did not know, that my colonies share growth and wanted to focus on a diffrent colony. My problem is, the game does not allow me to cancel all of the colonies. I am stuck colonizing Islands like "Vanuatu" or "Micronesia".
How can I cancel these colonies?

Open the colonization menu, and click on the colony you wish to cancel.

In the menu its red and the text says that there is no valid country to take my colonie

No, I mean click on an existing colony in the list.

Which list and where can I find it?
Im not sure if I understand you corectly, but I want to keep my other colonies which I could cancel (like in Africa) and cancel those where it doesnt let me)

Diplomatic lens at the bottom of the screen. It should open directly on the Regional Actions. You can cancel or add colonies there, but I think if you're in a diplomatic play/war, you cannot make any changes, you have to be at peace.

If I select my colonies through the lens there is red message saying that there is no valid target which can take the colony. Im at peace. Its also not showing up in the list "Establish Colony" however if i click on it through the lens on the map the error message is displayed

Maybe you established colonial administration. In that case you don't have control over colonization anymore.
