Army transition from Professional to Militia issue

Hi guys,

I play as Sweden and i am in early 1900s.

My army was quite good but only having 57 battalions i was looking for the Militia law which promised up to 215 battalions.

Now i make the law and my army is reduced to 25/0 with 0 conscript battalion.

So i dont understand i was expecting a massive number of conscript to represent the militia.

I saw that there is a recruitment office building distinct from the barracks but i cannot even build it (i.e. it is disabled).

So not sure what i need to do and would welcome insights...

so that millitia thing is a lie u can only get up to like 25 units per state u control and u only get the militia dudes when ur at war so it is always better to have professional army on as that will allow u to build up to 100 units (barracks) per state u control.

You have two caps, regular batallion capacity per province (standing army) and conscription capacity per province. Those are then filled depending on the total population of the province, up to the cap. The cap is defined by your laws and may be modified by techs.

Militia law gives you only 5 batallions per province, the rest will be conscripts. To set up conscription, you need to click on the "add conscripts" plus button under each unit.

Ok there is something i definitely missed.

My army looks like 57/0 (57 regulars and 0 conscripts).
However, even under professional army law, I have national guard which is advertised to deliver 115 batalions.

So in fact i dont understand why i have nothing on top of my regulars. Usually in previous games (before 1.5) I was doing nothing special and always had some conscripts to add on top of regulars.

So in concrete terms i dont know how to get the non regular troops.

Have you tried reading the manual?

National guard increases the conscription capacity. It won't give you more regular troops.

To get conscripts, select an army, and click on the plus button in the second row under any unit you wish to conscript. The tooltip will even say "recruit conscript %unittype%".

More seriously, I have something like 100+ hours in the game it is the very first time i have a country with ZERO (i.e. 0) battalions on top of regulars. And it is my first game post 1.5 upgrade so i am guessing i am doing something wrong.

i totally get that hence i dont know why i have 0 conscript in my army. It i first time i have that in a V3 game.

Well, that may be the reason why I'm not understanding you at all ;)

Anyway, what is the actual problem? That you can't add conscripts? What does the "recruit conscripts" window say?

My problem is that (as you can see below) I do nto have any conscript troops. Like none zero, nothing.
I have 57 regulars and 0 conscripts (see screenshot below) and i dont understand why.
I dont have a mobilisation issue just that they are absent and i dont know why.
Other countries all have some conscripts. In the past i always had some conscripts even with pro armies.

Just click on the plus button in the second row, below each unit. This will add the conscripts.

Yes but you guys dont understand my question.

My question is why am I the only country with with ZERO conscript projected in army strength (57/0) while every single other country has conscripts in their army size.
So i have no clue how many conscript battalion i can raise if i get into a war.

Look at Canada here below, they have 74 regulars and 55 conscripts. Every single otehr country has conscripts except me.

Why i dont have any conscripts reported in army size ? why ?
I am not doing anything different than what i did in past games (I have +174h on V3) and i always had conscripts in my armies.

Is my question now clear ?

Apparently based on what Latios said i may have to test building conscript centers and see if it makes a difference but in rpevious saves i never ever built a single conscript center to get a number of conscripts in my army strength projection.

You aren't reading what Alex said. You recruit conscripts (can be done at peacetime) from the army menu, by clicking add constraints then selecting the spot, it doesn't build conscription s centres until you are at was and mobilize the conscripts.

Yes but i get that and i think we have a massive misunderstanding.

My question has been whether something changed in the game because in the past i never created any conscript centre and still had conscript reported in army strength.

My problem is i have no clue how many conscript i can raise and as such no clue of my army strength and as such i dont know if i would need to change policies or adjust regular army size.

I am not trying to troll anyone and i appreciate people trying to help but so far it is unclear why i have zero because in previous games WITHOUT CREATING ANYTHING (like any centre of conscript or whatever) i had conscript strength.

So i am not clear if the game changed in that regard or not. I guess it has based on this discussion.
