You mean the game balance will be severely off, or it will literally start running badly?
1. You'll run out of technologies to research.
2. The game will lag. Horribly so.
3. Game balance is also unsuited for a longer play. For example, you'll hit a rubber cap.
But yeah the game is too slow very early to consider playing until the end.
I got to 1911 once and it was just too slow
might be applicable, though I have started over like 3-4 times, couldn't make it without deficit going wild, I'm sure I'm making mistakes and messing up without knowing but some things are evident like the short campaign length yes. The time period does not help since so much stuff happened in these 100 years but imo this should be the direction of teh game, slow down the time so all those things that happened take their place in the form or quests/events/gameplay
