Unite Germany without war?

I love to unite Germany without a war and after the last big Patch it seems no longer possible. The other small German states no longer join me.
Am I missing something?

well before the hotfix it was possible to unite germany without a war, now you need the Leadership War again...

You need Pan-Nationalism to form Germany, once you get it then normally they should be ready to join you, after the leadershipplay ofc.
The smaller States needs (or should be) to be in your Custom Union

One of my favorite playthroughs was uniting Big Germany without war; kind of disappointed they changed it. Going to try and see if there is a way a around it soon

Ok, was trying this out, trick is you got to liberate one of the Holstein states and get Denmark to back down with an obligation from an another major power. Once they are free that part of journal is complete.

To integrate Austria you need to first win Leadership play against them, then they just show up in the form nation section as supporter or not. To get them to support you do whatever necessary: Improve Relations or Bankroll until they have your flag on theirs. After they support you THEN press form Germany and you integrate Austria immediately.

To complete the required journal event liberation is enough, so it is possible to avoid war if you get Denmark to back down in liberation play

This apllies to 1.3? Im strugling with the process to unify Germany for a while, it's says I need to make a Diplomatic Play, but don't say against who. Already tried Austria and France.

before the hotfix patch you could go straight for alligning Austria (becoming ally and amicrable relation) and you could form it.
After the hotfix you need to research the Nationalism and Pan- Nationalism and launch a Leadership play against Austria, after that you need to ally it again and get the relations high to amicrable and then they should consent into forming Germany
